March 18: Apex Academy Driving Event for Nissan & Infiniti cars only
Hey folks,
Our very own veteran Bull Rider Renee H. (ultra-yellow 350Z Anniversary Edition) has become a driving instructor for Apex Academy. She has informed me that Apex Academy is planning a Nissan- and Infiniti-only High Performance Driving Event on March 18. The event will be held at Motorsport Ranch near Fort Worth. By the way, I have heard lots of great comments about this track.
This event should be a lot of fun and very educational for all drivers, regardless of experience level. As indicated in the press release below, since only 18 slots are available, it will be important to sign up quickly. This is an excellent opportunity to get some teaching and practice before the Z Convention in Dallas in May.
Enjoy!

One track drills. Slalom and threshold breaking. Both designed to learn car control.
Lead-follows= You follow and instructor and learn the proper "line" of the track.
In the afternoon you will be on track for four 20 min sessions.
You also have the opportunity to go to the skid pad if you would like. The best car control IMHO.

You'll leave the track at the end of the day a much better driver. They should make these kinds of courses mandatory for everyone. If you own a G35 or Z, you owe it to yourself to attend at least one of these courses so you can enjoy your car even more.

The last time I went, it was a real blast. I think we had three G35 coupes, two G35 sedans, a couple of 350Z's. The rest was a mix of Subarus and Nissans.
Four 20 minute sessions is plenty. Each session is adenaline pumping action. You really need to concentrate and not be over zealous. As your confidence builds, each run becomes more and more fun.
The first run, I was testing out the track, testing out the abilities of the car, testing out my abilities. If you know someone is faster than you, you respectfully let them pass in any one of three passing zones. Of course the first time, I let many folks pass me. This is nothing to be ashamed of (there is always going to be someone else faster).
After about the third run, I felt a lot more confident. Randys_G past me, followed closely by Renee in the Z. I decided to try to follow them. I couldn't exactly keep up, but I followed the same line. Wow, it made a world of difference. Once you find the line, the track just flows together.
Since then, I've tightened up the rear sway bar so I think the handling is going to be just right. I'll be going back again real soon. It would be awesome if we could get more G35's out there the next time. You'll have fun regardless of whether you are heavily modified or stock; 6MT or 5AT; coupe or sedan. It's just fun pushing the car to the limits in a controlled environment.

Youngturk, only the fact that its so low and the stock suspension has just enough play that the front bumper will tap the ground if the circumstances are right [turning hard + tapping the brakes + any small bump in the road or anything that upsets the car into a bounce like a tire catching]. I was planning on taping it all up as far as anything else goes... still trying to decide... Seeing is how the car still isn't running I may need the extra money to pay another shop

2. Make sure you have 50% pads or better.
You can always put the old pads back on after.
We do threshold breaking drill to teach you how your brakes feel under different modulation. This will help you on and off the track.
A new (to the track) driver should have no problem. This has not been a problem in the past.
I suggest you check your tires. Bald street tires do not= slicks!
There is a tech sheet on website.
