Question AUSTIN: Best place for Tires?...

Hey guys,

What's up? Well all the rally's have finally taken the toll on the tires. I failed inspection for my tires! They only have 13,000 mile on them. I am going to need 2 rear tires, the fronts will make it till next inspection. I currently have the factory 19" Bridgestone re50a's on there. My first question is should I put 2 more bridgestones on the rear even though they wear way to fast or go with the mix-n-match and put PS2's on the rear? Any other good tire I should be considering? I am assuming I will probably stick to the stock 245/40/19 size.

Second question is where is the best place in ATX to get the tires and have them installed? I need inspection by the end of March so I am a little tight on time here. Thanks any help would be great!! By the way, its about time for another rally to scrub in the new tires isn't it??

You can't go wrong with Discount Tire.... I don't know about the Austin area, but they have a very good reputation in Houston. My 2cents....

I buy all my tires from TireRack. I've never seen anyone beat their prices. Most places like NTB and Discount Tire will install them for a nominal charge. TireRack will deliver within 2 days usually to your door.

If you prefer to buy your tires locally, take a printout of a quote from TireRack to the local establishment and they should match TireRack's price. At least a couple NTB reps have said this to me.

um....BMW of Austin? haha. I'd say go with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 all around. second choice would be Bridgestone Pole Position S-03. down south around teh Manchaca area there's a Discount, go there and ask for Sid. tell him I sent you. then as turk advised, see how the price compares to NTB or whoever else. also let me know what they quote you, I've access to certain high performance tires
