Why does everyone think paint needs to be done by the dealer?

$1300 is way too high. I just had mine done -remove old one, prep & paint new one, reinstall for $730 Canadian dollars and that was an insurance claim. Adjusting for US $ a price of about $600-$650 would likely be equivalent. As well you can probably negotiate a bit better on your own than the inflated insurance numbers I was given.
