NC State Inspection

I am moving to NC in October or November. I am debating between test pipes or HFC's. Can someone tell me if I will fail my inspection with the test pipes?

If you have no cats then yes you will fail the emissions test. However, when I had my mustang, the jiffy lube guys would often pass it just because they liked it. Since test pipes bolt in, go pass the emissions test, then switch them out. That or find someone that will pass you regardless.

Thanks. I will be new to the state, so it might take me some time to find a mechanic to pass me. Thanks for the info though!

Most of the time they never checked. This varies with inspection stations. My old Camry got checked only if they noticed the boost gauge.
In SC they dont care.
