Want to verify rumor about BOSE.

I heard it's hard to replace a bose system. Is this true? If so, what's the trick to replacing it with say an Infinity Kappa system? And is it hard to install the navigation system yourself if bought elsewhere (still a factory nav system though)?

Re: Want to verify rumor about BOSE.

It depends on what you are trying to achieve.
Integrating with it is not easy.
Replacing it is easy, you just unbolt everything and replace it with what you want.
The head units are the same in any case.

Re: Want to verify rumor about BOSE.

to replace the head unit you must first buy new A/C control unit from Japan which costs $401. this looks no different but the current controls for sterio are joint with A/C

after replacing that you can put any sterio in but will need to replace all speakers because the BOSE system uses 2ohm speakers and the standard is 4ohm

adding a aftermarket NAV system is as easy on our car as any other car. Adding the stock nav system to our car is probably gonna be very very expensive because of the pop-up screen.

Adding factory nav will cost $4-$5k. You're better off getting the double din console and installing a nice touch screen monitor/head unit with nav for about $3k.

dont forget, the oem nav control units need to be added (and the gps antenna, and the center console buttons and garnish need to be replaced too)

its closer to 8K for the parts alone, from the manu, of course....
