I'd be up for it as well. Maybe sometime in July? We had one last summer with probably 10-12 cars there.

At this time there is a Solo II event with the Alabama SCCA scheduled for July 17th. This is free for anyone to attend and if you want to run your car all you are required to bring is a helmet (if you don't want to use their's). This event runs from 7:30am starting with registration until 9 and going until approx. 5pm.

I vote that we meet at the event for some visiting and watching and for anyone who wants to run, some cheering.

These are lots of fun and great for the kids to come watch as well. We can set a time or just make a small congregation for everyone to come and go as they like. Any comments?

I know several more people have viewed this thread than have responded. Please give us your feedback! Personally I would love to see the locals get to know each other and get together regularly.

If you want any info on the event itself go to www.alscca.org

Just to clarify my wife, the SCCA autocross even is free to attend, but is not free to participate.

If you want to run, you need to arrive by 7:30 to register. If you just want to watch, they start running around 9:30 or so.

Although I haven't participated, I have been to two of these events in the past two months, and they are a blast. I'm hoping to run at the July event, and I'm trying to convince my wife to run her's as well.

Update

Just to let you guys know, the SCCA Autocross even scheduled for July 17 has been changed. It's still the same date, but now it is the Speedsouth Super Summer Shootout(or some such), which means that registration/entry is closed. That may mean that we can't participate, but it doesn't mean that we can't watch.

I strongly urge everyone to attend. I've been twice, and both times it was a lot of fun.

Anyone else interested in a meeting before then? I haven't been to a meet in forever. I used to go to SELOC meets (that was my lexus club) but since I totalled my IS I haven't really been to any meets and I'd love to have a G35 meet. I'm feeling the mod bug too, so I'm going to start that process before too long and I can't wait to see what anyone else has done to theirs. Also is anyone going to NOPI this year? I plan on going and I think it would be cool if we could get some AL / B'ham G's going. I took second place in the IS300 mild category last year and I'm excited about going back this year. Maybe we should get a phone number list going, or if anyone else has nextel, we could get direct connect number list or something. But anywho, if we don't have a meet before the 17th, I can't wait to see ya'll there!

I definitely would. Do you have any preferences on location and time? When you met with the lex group, where did you meet? Also, what part of the metro are you located in?

What exactly is the NOPI? Could you elaborate?

And lastly, you got a coupe or sedan?

BTW - I wish the Southeast Regional forum would get more traffic. I know there's quite a few members on the board from the area, but I doubt many visit the regionals...

Well, my lex club met at the Hoover Met, but really, meeting just at a nice big parking lot is fine. It depends on what people like doing. I don't mind just getting together and talking and eating and maybe some driving, but then again I'm easy to please. Some people actually want something to do everytime, which isn't always the easiest to coordinate. But we can see what we can do. Oh and I live over in the Inverness / 280 area over on Valleydale road near Caldwell Mill Road. Where are ya'll located?

NOPI Nationals is the largest car show in the nation. Its held at the Atlanta Motorspeedway each year in September. Its a 2 day event and this year its being held on the 17th and 18th. Here is a link to the website. NOPI Nationals

I can answer any other questions you have about it, just let me know.

I have a 2005 DG Coupe with Graphite interior. All I have done right now is tinted windows.

Ya, I hear ya on this one. Its kinda frustrating cause I know there are alot of G's in the area, its just a matter of getting the word out. One thing my last club did was make business cards and then we could leave those on any cars we saw that we thought might like to join the car or looked like would fit. Also its nice to have if you get in a conversation with someone and then you can hand that card to them. But anywho, one step at a time right? lol.

UPDATE - Today's meet(7/3)

Just wanted to give you guys an update. The wife and I went up to Kinko's yesterday and printed out a few flyers for today's meet. We then proceeded to canvas the hoover/galleria area, as well as the inverness/hwy280 area. Each time we spotted a g, we stopped and posted a flyer under the wiper. We only saw 4 coupes, and 10 sedans.

Unfortunately, none of the canvassed g's showed up, although we did get an instant message stating that the owner would like to attend the next meet. So that's a little progress.

ShadowG35 was there, so we had a total of 3 g's (1 coupe and 2 sedans). We hung out for about an hour, then drove down the road for lunch at Applebee's. Overall it was a bunch of fun, even if there was only one other owner there. Now it just makes me look forward to the July17th SCCA event that much more.

Additionally, the wife has set up a new group on yahoo, for coupes, sedans, and even the z cars. We've decided to let them in

I'll let her post more info on the yahoo group.

We took a few pics of today's meet, and I'll try to post those on another thread shortly.

Contact group for the Alabama G's and Z's

Ok. I went onto Yahoo groups and set up a group for the Alabama G's and Z cars. This is not to take away from this site in any way but to give us a place to have a members only access to contact information, etc to protect privacy. At this point we are hoping to start an official group of the G's and Z cars in cooperation with some members of the my350z.com site. The group is open to anyone in Alabama that owns or loves the G's and Z's. If you are interested in joining the site please go here to see our page. Again you will have to ask to be added as a member but provided we can contact you and you are real we will add you no problem .

My thanks to Stephen for being willing to help us with starting out and to Mike for getting us the contacts from the my350z.com site. I look forward to lots of working with you guys to get this group up and thriving!
