The Z is, in fact, as fast as they claim it to be... in the hands of a skilled driver. In the hands of a "young driver" your 5AT gives you a better margin for error than the 6MT. Any Z you've "spanked" was simply driven poorly, but don't underestimate the car itself.

Put the same driver in both cars (such as in back-to-back runs at a proper drag strip), and you'll see the Z have an edge, even if you've got I/E/Cat-delete, which would still not overcome the non-trivial weight and horsepower (model year dependent, nach) differentials.

Not flaming your post... just sticking up for my ex'

The Z is a great car!!! I test drove one and considered buying it... by far one of the most fun cars I have ever driven! However, my post about spanking stock Zs was not attributed to poor driving... too many of em. Since you responded to the post after me I guess I shouldn't feel it was directed to my post - but I would happily take the challenge against a stock Z. However, I feel that a Z with the same mods as my G would be another story (unless the Z was poorly driven).

All 3 cars; the G sedan, G coupe and 350Z are all great cars and there is no way any of them would be a poor choice to own. (I'd love to have one of each actually!)
