You mean like the CCFL strips?
Unfortunately the E90 is extremely complicated electronically and those won't work for it.
However there's a japanese company that makes an upgrade called BREX, I do have them but not installed yet. They make them hyperwhite and much brighter as opposed to the stock dim yellow color.
