refree ticket question????

sooo.... after about 3 weeks with my turbonetics kit, i got a refree ticket. it wasnt for speeding or anything i "crossed" over double yellow lines to pass people (i dont remember doing that, and i wouldnt do that to just pass people) and he also said that i reved at him and took off. WHY WOULD I EVER REV AT A COP!!!! hahaha but whatever he gave me a refree ticket, my question is, can i pay some kind of a fine or do i have to actually take everything off??? please let me know. AND am i even allowed to be driving right now on the road?

Depends on what your cited for. If it requires Ref visit and smog, then your screwed. All you can do is wait for your curtesy notice in the mail, should arrive in couple weeks. You may have the option to just pay fine, and be done with ( no need to remove kit ). If no bail option and it requires mandatory court appearance, then you have some option. 1) remove kit, visit ref, and bring proof to court and pay fine. 2) Appear in court and file continuance to extend. Tell Judge somethings wrong with car, and you dont have funds to fix at moment. Next time you appear, tell same thing, he may give you option to just pay fine and be done with. 3) Fight your charges in court, very good chance cop will not show for trial. Its not a major crime, so its really not worth it for cop to show. With this option you can at least keep your kit for little while. However depending your your citation, if citation is for " illegal smog modification ", your G must not be on the road at all. Yup, Cali Laws suck for us modified cars. Much worse in San Diego and Sac.town area. For anyone in Cali with FI, make sure you dont give cops any reason to pull you over, this means, remove TINT, have your front plates on, and hope your exhaust is not too loud. Once they pull you over, they may ask to pop your hood. . ........ Good luck.

IT actually is worth it for the cop to go since they get payed 1 1/2 time. Do you know any cops? they might be able to help you or even sign it off.

Damn Mike, that really sucks. AFAIK, if you get issued a referee ticket, they must fully examine your car and you have to get the ticket written off by the examining officer. I don't think there is a way around the system in this situation.

Can you get a refree ticket for having a vortech SC or Stillen Stage 2?

Those are even installed by dealers...

But im guessing your TT is too strong for legal street use?

Both Vortech and Stillen stage 2 are carb approved. Even with having the carb eo#, the officer may site you for " illegal smog modification ", so its a visit to the Ref. Although you may have the carb eo# stamped underhood, he may think you put it there illegally. Just provide your carb eo# when you visit the Ref, but your car still may need to pass smog test. Anthing else not carb approved needs to be removed ( test pipes, headers, possibly exhaust, anthing that does not look factory underhood, like colored hoses ). Note, its illegal to a have a BOV added on your SC kit, that is why its sold without one, Vortech uses a bypass valve. IF cop sees the BOV, its a visit to Ref.
