I feel you on this one -- was dropping my girl off at LAX a couple of Saturdays ago and got pulled over by an LAPD cycle cop. You know the type, 5 ft nothing and full of attitude.... He tells me the speed limit is 25 and that he paced me doing 55!! Is it even possible to do 55 around LAX???? I look at him and go "you paced me doing 55???" I guess he got from my expression that I knew I could beat it in court if he pressed it, so he let me go.... d1ck....

must be Los Angeles only.

Last night, I was doing a leisurely 88 through Rowland/Industry/Diamond Bar around 10pm and a motor cop pulls up along side me on the 60 eastbound. he waves at me and then sppeds off. Cool!. I couldnt tell if he was CHP, but he must've been on his way home from work.

Almost for certain its an LAPD traffic cop heading home from work.

Yeah, that is effin impossible...MAYBE you were going 55, but there is no way in the world he could pace you at that speed in that location. I am guessing he saw you and thought you were driving too fast, but didn't know for sure. If he asks you how if you knew why he pulled you over and then follows that with asking you how fast you think you were going.....if you say, yeah, I was going too fast...about 40mph, then he would write you a ticket for going 40mpg. So I am guessing the 55mph was just made up bs and he was trying to get you to incriminate yourself. No way a traffic cop lets you go without a ticket if he really did pace you.

I'm sure it was made up too, but this guy was too much of an @$$hole and probably not bright enough to think it through enough to try to get me to incriminate myself. He started right in with the whole "the speed limit is..." isht before I'd even said a word. Traffic was moderate, but there were WAY too many cars out for me to get anywhere near 55 mph...

Its this simple... like it or not...

CHP are employed to write tickets. Their promotions and raises are based on performance like everyone else. Their performance has to do with the number of tickets they write.

So... on the highway, prepare to potentially be flagged for anything deemed illegal: Tint, no license plate, mods, you name it.

It sucks, and I don't agree with it for the record.

Twice so far, LAPD has pulled me over for not having a front license plate. TWICE! They gave me citations each time. Do you know how many times you'll see a car drive by while you're getting a ticket and see another car without a front license plate

I got the Stillen detachable chingadera but I refuse to put it on. I guess vanity comes with a price.

Hey guys I use to be like each and every one of you. Back when I drove my accord coupe, tinted windows, no plates, no real mods besides intake, I got pulled over so the stupiest things. I mean they let me go for things like tint and no plate. I've gotten tickets for speeding when cars in front me were going faster. Cops even barged into my backyard when I was throwing a house party and it was only 11:30pm. Made comments like the ones each and every one of you are making.

Lemme ask...what's the general age of all of us? Well I'm guessing a good majority of us especially in LA are under 25. Next question...at what age should your car insurance start to come down in price? 25 yrs old. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to explain that typically 25 yrs old is when we don't care about showing off anymore. We don't speed as much, we don't mod our engines, basically we follow the rules the road better.

If I saw a 19 yr old driving in a G35 coupe, I'll be damn if there aint any mods not up to specs with DOT regulations. Guys, cops will pull you over...there are more than 43,000...yes 43,000 codes in the California Vechicle Code they can use against you. They will follow you for miles before pulling you over.

I have a whole new level of respect for law enforcement. Seeing what they go through just becoming a cop and knowing what goes through their mind when on patrol. They trust NOBODY!! If pulling you over and citing you for a stupid thing like front tints means the difference between the next officer's ability to see a weapon in a vehicle...shoot I'll gladly pull every single one of you because at the end of the day, I just want to make it home.

You want cops to stop harassing you? Then stop modding your vehicles that don't meet DOT standards. Plain and simple

Nice, except I'm a mid 30's white guy. I pay appx $1400 a year for insurance @20,000 miles per year and full coverage(IMO, very inexpensive). And oh yeah, you ever want to see the highest concentration of front window tints in the world....walk through LAPD police HQ employee parking lot downtown. Just exit through the back of the Korean BBQ place on 1st street in J-town instead of the front.
