Calling All Socal Experts!
hey guys,
i'm from san jose and my gf and i are gonna go to socal for our 5 year. she really wants to go universal hollywood. we're gonna be there for few days. any really awe inspiring attractions or recreational things you guys suggest?
in all seriousness, i want to do something fun, memorable with her and not too expensive. we might roam hollywood as we've both never seen the "hollywood stars." i know those are cliche places which makes us very touristy, but any other suggestions? Thanks for the input guys. I want to make it fun for her.

- Hollywood Blvd between LaBrea and Vine.
- Beverly Hills. (with a GF, keep the wallet hidden). Mostly just shopping (Rodeo Drive) but it looks cool.
- Universal it self is expensive. If you do they have a cool tour of the lots, all the rides, and Citywalk (shopping and food).
- Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade (mostly outdoor shopping).
- Santa Monica Peer (carny like games and rides). Can be romantic at night.
- Venice Beach/Boardwalk. Fun hippies and cheap stuff.
- Long Beach. I like the aquarium.
- Malibu. Short drive up the PCH to Malibu. There is a park on some road right along the ocean. You can hike up a small mountain and look out. I forgot the road but there are a bunch of nice areas to just check out.
- LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) if you are into art. It's just under Hollywood and right next to Beverly Hills.
- Next to LACMA is the La Brea Tarpits. The tarpits them selves are free to walk around the outdoor park and the museum in the park is around $7.
- Across the street from those museums is the Peterson Automotive Museum. It has pretty much a complete history of cars with some random cool stuff on display. $10 admission.
- Griffith Park (Hollywood) is pretty cool if you like hiking. They have a Observatory that just opened up again last year.
- Beachwood Drive for the best view of the Hollywood sign.
Just some other fun things:
- Take Sunset from Hollywood to the beach. It's a fun drive through some nice areas. You pass UCLA, Belair, etc.
- Bars and clubs on Sunset at night if you are into that stuff.
- Check the Hollywood Bowl schedule for anything cool while you are in town.
There are a bunch more stuff. Just take a look online and see what you guys most want to see.
Have fun.

Yeah I was just going to say Getty... also try to get tix for the Getty Villa as well. If you want to head south... Newport beach/Laguna beach is nice too...
Coming from San Jose, perhaps take PCH all the way down, if you have the time... great drive and good scenery...
