Vortech installed Deal?
Vortech installed Deal?
Hey guys:
I am in the market for a Vortech SC new installed in SoCal area. Does anyone know any good deals for the SC installed? So far the lowest price I've found is about $6400 installed plus tax. (installed in 2 days max)
PLMK
Thanks

Well...that price sounds about right - but you haven't given any details as to which kit your getting, if your car is AT or MT, what year it is, if your getting any extras, if it's going to be tuned after or not.
The kit should run right about $5K, less if not polished. Install should run $1000 - $1200 - with no tune and no extras. Install will typically take 2 days - if the shop will dedicate the time to the car non-stop.
Extras like an oil pan spacer, boost gauge, tranny cooler in AT, oil cooler - can run about $650 installed for all of them
Tune - can start from $200 and up.
Also - you haven't specified if your getting an tuner kit or full kit, and if it's a tuner kit, what EMU are you getting?
So - fill in the blanks, and your question will be easier to answer.

I have a 03 6MT coupe. The price is for the complete Vortech kit, but without gauges, oil spacer or tuning. (just the out of the box tune from Vortech) They told me tuning would probably cost an additional $200-250.
I got the quote from Super Autobac and was thinking about taking my car there next week. (since it's close to where I live in OC) They are also pretty good at keeping their schedule, which I greatly appreciate. Just wanted to double check with everyone before plunging that much money down.

Actually I am also looking for them to do brake works for me, Brembo slotted rotors, Hawk pad, SS lines, new fluid and all. They are quoting me $1200 installed which is way better than what I got from the dealership and Stillen.
Anyone else know a good reputable shop in the OC area that is experienced with G35/350Z? Personally I heard good things about Super Autobac that's why I went there first to check.

Which vortech kit are you getting - standard satin or polished? for the price - I hope it's polished.
You really should consider the pan spacer, and oil cooler...and the boost gauge. It's all for safety.
Also - check out Street Image - Dru - they're really good as well.

Sukurain, If so, thats not a complete install.
IMO, the gauges are a definate must. And the tuning should be included in the estimate for installation & labor. Or else its somewhat deceiving, since a tune is a must.
Have you checked out GTM or Relentless?
Goodluck!
PS. From what I hear, the actual vortech install isn't so hard to do it yourself (assuming you have the tools & will). It's just time consuming. Leave the tune for the pros.

A tune isn't a must - actually to fully comply with smog cert laws - it shouldn't be tuned at all. The Vortech tune is VERY conservative - a good tune on the Split Second box can yield you 30-50HP.

Sounds like oil pan spacer is a good idea, but do I need the boost gauge if I just want to leave the car at conservative tune and not mess around with it? (I just need about 320 at the wheel) I like to keep the clean look of the interior, so I don't want huge gauges on the A-pillar if not needed.

For better efficiency, I'd take it to get tuned on a completely stock Vortech G35 anyhow.
That's just how I would do it though...

A tune IS wise if you have other NA mods - if your completely stock...you'd be fine.
I used to have a pic of mine...I'll get one for ya later...

you really want to spend that much money and not care if your on the ragged edge of blowing the motor? a good tune is really cheap compared to a shortblock! and as for a boost gauge you will add one later. i can promise you that. might as well do it now. one gauge on the pillar isnt going ti kill the apperace of the car. imho
Actually the last thing I want is a blown motor with my extended warranty plan. I want to play it safe......
So I take it $6400 installed, no gauge, no tune, no oil spacer is not exactly a deal I should go for then.
Many people have good things to say about Street Image. I actually got my Borla installed there, but it took them 6 hours to install the exhaust because they were so backed up. It's a 2 hour communte for me to get there. I would really hate to have to wait for a SC install given my experience.
Just wondering, ISMSOLUTIONS, where did you get your Vortech installed?

All my Vortech work was done at Fast Intentions...
and again..the gauge does not need to go on a pillar. I specifically didn't want that so it wouldn't stand out to cops or other drivers by...Rick
