+1,000,000. There are SOOOOOOOOO many things to do down here.

Just to name a few things that come to the top of my head for tourists....

LA area:
Hollywood
Universal Studios
Magic Mountain
Santa Monica Pier/3rd street promenade
Bonaventure hotel
Rodeo drive (Beverly Hills area)
Koreatown
Chinatown
Japantown
Griffith Park/Observatory (gives you a great view of LA)
Getty Museum

OC area (about 20 to 30 mins south of LA):
Huntington Beach/Pier/Main Street area
Newport Beach/Fashion Island
South Coast Plaza (our version of a Rodeo Drive. ) It's a mall though.
Disneyland
Knott's Berry Farm
PCH (a cruise down Pacific Coast Highway) I recommend starting in Huntington Beach, and then going far south as Laguna Hills. (You'll also pass Newport Beach area/Fashion Island)

A must for So Cal visitors:

Food Joints:
In-in-out (best burger joint in the Socal area.)
Tommy's (another great burger joint)
Pinks hotdogs
El Taurino (best mexican food IMO) Located on Olympic & Hoover in LA. Kind of in a scary neighborhood. But you'll be fine. People go there ALL the time after clubbing/drinking.
Any ghetto hotdog stand that you see on the street after a club/bar. They'll be cooking up some bacon wrapped dogs...Mmmmmmmm
Korean BBQ There's so many in Ktown. (LA area) I'm Korean. And I've tried Korean food joints all over the states. (i.e. New York, DC, Hawaii, Las Vegas, SF, Seattle, Chicago.) Since LA has the biggest Korean population in the states...we know our food in LA.
Brazillian BBQ (Best one is in Long Beach on PCH) It's called Greenfield.
PHO - Vietnamese rice noodle soup. They're EVERYWHERE in Westminster (OC) Be sure to stop by a Vietnamese coffee shop.
Todai - best buffet/all you can eat Asian food. (ie. sushi, chinese, etc.) They are all over So Cal.

Things to do/places to see IMO for new SoCal visitors:
Hollywood area (i.e. Hollywood sign, stars/stars names on the ground. forgot what it's called. )
Rodeo Drive (Beverly Hills area)
Orange County / beaches are WAYYY better than the LA area beaches. (Such as Huntington Beach)

Just watch out for traffic. It sucks especially during the weekdays. You could probably hit up sightseeing/driving around from LA to OC, all in a day. LA to OC is about a 20 to 30 min drive without traffic. With traffic your probably looking at a good hour or so. Good luck and have fun! Welcome to So Cal!!! Where nice cars, and fake boobies come hand in hand.

In-N-out for sure... best burger place in Cali.

Cruise the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) along the coast. You can take it all the way down through all the beach cities. (Longbeach, Newport) You can take some cool pics too.

If youre into asian girls, V2O club in Long Beach is cool.

Go to Gyu Kaku ( http://www.gyu-kaku.com/ )- best Asian bbq place ive been to in my life. That place became the favorite restaurant for every person i took there. They have burners in the tables, u just order meat and grill it on open fire...

Disneyland / Knotts Berry Farm

Check out Improv.com if u like stand up comedy

Long Beach Aquarium is nice… has sharks etc.

If u cruise down to OC, check out Irvine Spectrum . ( http://www.shopirvinespectrumcenter.com/ ) It’s a huge shopping/bar/restaurant/movie center. It has Dave and Busters (game bar), improv, bars stores.

If u like sushi then check out Boss Sushi in Hollywood. I love sushi and I tried A LOT of places, this is one of the best; it still has Japanese chefs unlike many other joints.

Stay off the 405 & 5 freeways between 2pm 7pm. Avoid the 10 freeway like the plague.

Definately! L.A has one of the worst, if not worst, freeway trafic in the nation. So avoid the 6-8am, 3-7pm rush-hour traffic on the 101, 5, 10, etc.

And In-&-Out is a must!

Order this and I guarantee you will have a smile on your face: #1 with Animal Style fries (Animal Style fries is a secret menu thing of theirs). Or, if you want more, a 4x4 with Animal Style fries (Again, off-menu products)

.
