Oil consumption test

How's it going just returned from Cerritos Infiniti after they completed my first oil consumption test.

Result= low on oil, added 1 quart

Is this normal? Well that is what the guy at the dealer told me! 1 quart per 1000 miles sounds like BS!!

I've been told on 4 seperated occasions that my car is low on oil and my oil is dark. At 1200miles (when I first bought the car, had 14 on the odometer) my check engine came on and I was low on oil.

Just before I started these test my car was extremely low on oil, oil was very dark, and I wasn't getting oil to my hydraulic lifters.

Any ideas?

This is a known issue, and quite common, with primarily the revup engines. There are a few, not many, non-revups that also had this problem.

A quick search should yield a lot of results.

Thanks for the reply!

I am aware of the issue after reading about it here on the forums. That is why I finally had the Oil Consumption test performed at the dealer after being told so many times that my car had low oil.

Just wondering what the people that had their engine replaced, experienced at the dealer.

I was told 2-2.5 quart per 1000 miles is a problem.

I also had them order me a new head unit as my cdchanger ate my cds and wont play or eject them!

1 quart per 1k miles is a problem, from what i've read on the forums.

some dealers are reluctant to replace your engine, but others will do it no problem.

unfortunately, some people have still had the oil consumption problem even after having their engines replaced.
