It's going to be a hard find in Irvine, since you're so far away from the mountains.
Go online and look up a store on the way to Big Bear, something in Redlands or Mentone, and they'll stock chains. I got both of my sets of chains from an Autozone (i think), off of Redlands Blvd and Citrus Ave. It's about 2 exits further than the 30/330 interchange off of the 10 fwy.
Also, Chick's and Big5 sometimes carry chains.

Dude, You'd rather rent a car(I mean SUV or FF)
It's kinda really hard to find the RIGHT snow (cable) chain for G.
I tried SCC z-chain which was specially designed for the S.A.E. Class "S"(for passenger vehicles with limited clearance around the drive tires) but didn't fit at all. (like 5inches short)
http://www.scc-chain.com/Traction%20...ac_ZChain.html
I did a search by tire/wheel size and purchased the recommended size(Z-555)but didn't fit at all. Luckly I bought it from dealership in Tustin, CA so I could return it right away(most shops like Walmart, they don't allow you to return any sort of snowchains.)
So if you want to try SCC ones, I highly recommend you to test it before you hit the snow.
