Wheel alignment

Most of us who own stock G35 coupes, have this problem with the front tires wearing on the inside, has anybody had an alignment shop change the alignment not to specs, but so that the tires wear evenly?

our cars have a natural camber to all the wheels, STOCK.

It's better for handling too, I'd say just have a shop take the tires off and switch the sides. SInce rotating isnt quite possible with staggered tires.

Last ditch is www.templecityautorepair.com
they will set up ur camber to ANY kind you want, as long as the hardware on ur car allows.

Good luck.

like startbutton said, our wheels are cambered stock and the fronts can't be adjusted at all. if you don't want to get a front camber kit, at least make sure your toe specs are as close to zero (0) as possible.

And what does a camber kit cost and what is the general consensus? If I get a camber kit, besides evening out the wear, is there any other benefit?

a front camber kit isn't worth it unless you are lowered more than inch. even then, some people opt not to get one because they start at $375 before install.

So, would the only benefit I would see is evening out the wear?

if your at stock ride height, id just suggest to get an alignment and make sure ur toe is not off. as bigc mentioned..

You really dont want to sacrifice traction in turns for a lil tire wear.

also, if youve never gotten an alignment yet, you might want to. you should at every time u change ur tires. Alignment gets messed up over time and all the shocks and bumps u drive through everyday...

good luck!

I had an alignment about 500 miles ago and have 32K on these ones. My wife drives the car 90% and we drive real easy. Service is at regular intervals and everything is stock.

WOW this is information i had no idea about. the inside of my tire (passenger side) got pretty bald. i just figured i messed up the aligment by taking it canyon running with my heavy 20" Foose wheels. And i was just about ready to take it to the dealer and pay 90 bucks for a aligment. HMMMM

I swapped sides and its much quieter now. I probably will put in an extra lb. psi so a little more of the center will wear and then I will get another set of tires, but this time something less expensive than the stock michelins. I'd say since I have 32K on these tires, I've done pretty well.
When I had the tires swapped the tech. noticed I had wear on the inside and said I'm in need of a wheel align. and I told him that's the way these G35s are engineered. He said he's done a lot of these G35s and has not noticed inside wear.

There's a tech that doesn't know squat about the cars he works on! Every
G35 on the road wears out the inside of it's tires, no secret amoung our
members here on Driver. Nothing wrong with having the alignment checked
every couple years, but you'll still have the problem/issue. Swaping the tires
is the only way to get a little better mileage.

^^^ you mean coupe right Gary?... I'm on my third set (not because of previous wear, just upgrades)... on my sedan there hasn’t been any abnormal wear.
