Re: So Cal's Best Beach?

To All,

I contacted Huntington Beach parking, and they said it's $10 per car and it's usually filled by 11:00 am so we'd have to all be there before 10:00am to gaurentee spaces in a "close vacinity". Otherwise we'd have to do a permit to reserve a specific area or they also said we could try contacting the State Beach area and see what they could do for us. I will check further into this tomorrow and get back to everyone here. My guess is if we go the permit route they'd want a deposit up front and it'll be slightly more. I'll find out all the details and see what would be more beneficial. Just so we all know I'm looking at Saturday, the 19th of June. And I'm concentrating on Huntington since it seems to be the most agreed upon.

Re: So Cal's Best Beach?

One word of caution about HB:

My parents live about 1 mile north of the pier, one block in from PCH. Every time I go visit there, two problems occur. First there is some very grainy dirt in the air...not normal dust. If I do not wash my car the nexy day, this stuff does have the tendency to scratch. 2nd, every time I leave, there is some sort of odd layer of stuff on my car. I'm not sure how to describe it other than it leaves a film on my windshield and simply running the windshield wippers does not get rid of it.

Re: So Cal's Best Beach?

KRZ_HAYN great research, find out about the permit and then we will get this going. OK so we have that we will have it at Huntington Beach and we will all have to arrive around 10 am. Now we have to set a date, June 26 or 27 or July 3? I can't make it on the 26 but majority rules. Lets set a date and I can start a new thread to get a count going.

Re: So Cal's Best Beach?

Well folks, here's an update. So far I have talked with all 3 appropriate parties that handle the different parking situations possible. Unfortunately 1 of those is a complete no-go. This would be the Permit option, leaving us with either taking our chances with an early arrival I'd say before 9:30 (gates open at 9:00am) or the State Beach. I spoke with the State Beach Events coordinator yesterday and she's supposed to be sending me all the necesary info and forms. I am pushing for Saturday, June 19th. I will keep you all posted as I learn more.

Re: So Cal's Best Beach?

July 03 is the day before 4th of July, so maybe this isn't a good day...

i say June 19, 2004, my first day of summer vacation...
