Heading down to Socal tomorrow morning!!!!

We will be heading down to LA tomorrow morning (5am?) I was planning to use highway 5, but people mention that the "Great Vine?" "Great Wine?" may be snowing at the top. They told me to use higway 101 instead. What do you guys think?? If I use highway 5 and there is snow, is there a detour?

I will be bringing the G and DO NOT want snow chain or get stuck in traffic for hours.

My G is 06 IP coupe, 19 OEM w/ Brembo, full debadge, tint, HKS exhaust with CF diffuser. Holla back if see me rolling.

Don't risk it and just take the 101...last year I got stuck on the 5 at the top of the grape vine due to fog and bad road conditions..it was not pleasant.

The 101 takes CONSIDERABLY more time than the 5. A storm is projected to hit us by tonight, and with the snow level down to almost 2000 feet, the Grapevine will be affected. So far as I know, there is no alternate route if you commit to the 5 so unless you plan on kicking it on the Tejon Pass, I would take the 101.

You're going to San Diego this weekend right? We've been having a lot of road closures due to snow up in that area. Just take the scenic route (101). Doing that is better than getting stuck for 5+ hours.

snow levels are up to 4000-5000 ft again. 2000 feet was last week.

Yea, I am heading down tomorrow. Hey, Day177017. Thank you for giving me so much info. I probably will take 101 for safety and scenic. We ain't in rush anyway, we just need to be in LA by 1pm for lunch. We are planning to leave around 5am in the morning.
