If you're just going out to have fun, the G is great.

Like others have said, it is heavy. And if you take it to the track often, it can get expensive(pads, tires, extra maint. etc).

+1 make sure your oil lvl is at "H" before you rip the track apart haha

You want an 05+ 6MT for track

If you do decide to get an 05 make sure your G goes through the axle TSB before your warranty is out

hey all, thanks for the replies. sorry to not have been more clear, but yes, the G35 would primarily be a DD for me with occasional track time. i have a few cars, a RX8, miata (my track car) and a WRX (which im going to sell.) just looking at options from here.

what's with the axle TSB on the 05 models? is that the same as the rear axle click with 350Z's? any issues on the 03-04 brembo models?

agreed, but the OP is looking for a DD with occasional track usage. The G35 is a much better DD than a 350z....I know someone will try to argue that one!

Steering & suspension is the same...atleast for us 05+ 6MT Coupes.

The G35 is great for DD and occasional track time. You just have to make sure you are on top of the important issues such as maintenance.

The G35 & 350Z (non HR's) aren't so different on the track. But ofcourse, the edge goes out to the 350Z.

100% agreed. At Hallet, the Z's were about a 2 seconds faster than me on laps. They ran 1:38's and I ran 1:40. This is their best lap vs. my best lap. I think a few more laps and I could have shaved my time a little more.

I started tracking my car last year and drive it daily. The only thing you may want to do is get an upgraded brake package and a decent clutch and flywheel setup (I would recomend going with the JWT setup)

OP, you will have no problem tracking a DD car....just remember to do maintain your car properly and don't skimp on good fluids.
