and also use it as a DD?
i'm maybe in the market for a used G35.. any particular years i should pay attention to? i visit willow springs often and in the market for another car. not sure if the G would be the best of cars for track days, but it is a nice car to sit in rush hour traffic with.

To the OP how serious are you towards tracking your G. If you are interested I suggest getting an 05 coupe with the revup engine and brembo's

05's dont come with brembo's and either way, the brembos dont outperform the updated 05+ brakes.

OP, you will have no problem tracking a DD car....just remember to do maintain your car properly and don't skimp on good fluids.

ah, I was always under the influence that they stopped making the brembo from factory after 05's, my mistake.

But to your other statement, yes the 05+ non brembo perform just as well as the brembo's but they lack the braking consistency the brembos offered.

OP for a track ready car right off the bat get the older G's, with no sunroof. Brembo's and lightweight, can't go wrong. The G progressively gotten more luxurious as each year passes by and therefore the weight proportionally increased as well.

I pulled a 2:00 lap at Laguna Seca a couple years back. Best advice, like was said earlier. KEEP UP ON FLUIDS!!!!!! I was low on oil and forgot to go in for a change the day before. I'm on engine #2 since then. Everybody always makes fun of me (reminds me of that song,"Why's everybody always pickin' on me?") and my wife says I'm not allowed to go tracking anymore. One misake and I live with it for he rest of my days.

To the OP I would advice against a G35 the car is a porker. The damn thing is to heavy you are better off getting a use S2K. If you do choose to get a G35 change the brake fluids to racing fluids trust me on this. My brake fluid was boiling after only 5 laps around the track I had to pull over the pits and let it cool off. Otherwise, enjoy your track day it's always a blast zooming down the track and not be afraid of getting a speeding ticket.

What kind of car are you coming from?

I don't think the OP is looking for a dedicated track car, but rather one that is nice to drive daily and occasionally take to the track. The G is a great car for this.

I do. It's an incredibly fun and legal way to push your car to its limits. The G is good enough, but won't win many races because of its weightower ratio isn't as good as most others you'll see at the track. I held my own, not getting passed by cars that were in my class. I track my car and it's my dd. Keep up on fluids and get some track wheels and tires and your golden. O yea, and some high temp pads

I have a few pics in my garage when I was at Hallett Raceway. Before I went I upgraded my brake pads and brake fluid. Also, I changed my oil and rear differential fluid.
