emissions in california!?

Hello guys.
I'm moving to a place nearby LA at the end of this month(in LA county). So here's my question, my g35 is APS-single turboed and I do not have a catalytic converter. But the check engine light is not on, prolly cuz of the utec I'm running? Could you guys give me some advices or comments about how emission is in Cali? Oh, I'm in northern Virginia right now, and emission here, I could get around it cuz I don't have check engine light.

Thank you for your help guys!!
John

Wow.. that sounds like I have to take my turbo off.. but then, what's up with the people who turbo charged their cars in cali? Are they all driving without getting emission done?

CALI is pretty strict regarding smog/CARB approved parts/..plus let alone you'll be in the LA county...

TURBO - probably take it off. get passed smog then slap it back on. do u know if they have a carb/ca legal version of your setup?
people typical go stock when smogging, then slap it back on..headache every 1 to 2 years.some cities do yearly smogs due to pollution

check engine light, instant fail.

pretty much it...there might be other smog emission stuff u need because ur car is out of california...

good luck..

the best advice i can offer is leave your car registered in va. my buddy is a marine and got move to pendleton in october but left his truck registered in va. idk how long you could get away with it but its the only way to get out of smogging your car

My buddy did the same thing when he came out to cali for college.
Had his arizona plates on for years.
Never needed to get smogged, but who knows what changes they've made over the past few years.
It always seems to be something new every year.

It's actually 20 days from the date of employment or date of residency. People attending college from out of state could avoid it because they're not claiming residency, hence paying the enormous out of state tuition.

You're asking for a lot of trouble with no cats especially if I could smell it. State referees are no fun.
