CA Highway Patrol - Questions re radar guns and change of venue
Hey everyone, two quick questions here: Got a speeding ticket from CHP, and I wasn't speeding (really).
Issue 1: He was driving in the opposite direction, pulled a u-turn, and pulled me over. Said he had his radar gun on that was reading my speed while he was driving in the opposite direction. Is that possible, meaning he is driving north at 65 mph and I'm driving south at 65, and his radar gun can accurately clock me going in a different direction? I know radar guns are somewhat accurate if he is standing and aiming it at you, but I just can't believe that radar guns can get a reading while incorporating the CHP's vehicle speed. Any thoughts, advice or a website showing that can or can't be done?
Issue #2: How do I ask for a "change of venue" - The officer wrote the nearest court on the citation, which is far away from my residence. I've heard that I can ask for a change of venue and have it moved to my residence county. Is that accurate?
Anyway, I very much appreciate anyone who offers thoughts and advice on my question. I know the CA budget crisis is bad, and CHP needs some revenue, but I wasn't speeding. Thanks in advance-

You should of ask him to show you his radar gun to you and see what it was clock at.
There a phone # on the ticket call it and you could request to change venue.
First post and its about a ticket lol
