Really it's just not about just cops. When we(firefighters) are working on side of road Plenty of rubber necks come to close for comfort. Most ppl don't even more right away anymore and you try stopping a truck full of ppl gear and the weight of 750 gallons of water.. I'm Not a fan of more laws and fines. I am a fan of being safe when i have to work though.

yeah it should just be common sense to move over, but this large of a fine in certain situations is overwhelming. I agree I have seen some people perform some retarded moves while emergency vehicles are present, but this fine is huge.

this type of law is in effect in many many many many many states.

probably every state.

And it's always posted when you enter the state just like a seat belt law

Definitely the law in VA. Nobody seems to have a problem with it. If the freeway is packed with no place to move over, we just slow down real slow and the cops never seem to mind.
