Cracked windshield

Ok, so driving home last night, a rock flies up and smacks my windshield instantly creating a 3 inch crack that soon grows to about 7 inches.

Anyone have any suggestions for repair and or replacement in San Fernando valley and approximate costs as well?

Thanks, John

Re: Cracked windshield

OK, I will bump this once. I received quotes ranging from $345+tax to $671.

I am concerned about the disparity in price range. I don't know if the inexpensive guys do shoddy work or if the expensive guy is just a rip off.

Anyone out there have any experience with this?

Re: Cracked windshield

FYI, most car insurances cover this, as a repair, not a replacement...

try this first, then if youre not satisfied, replace it at your cost.

04 / Black Obsidian / Graphite Leather / aero / splash / prem / perf / cc / 22%tint
z-tube / k&n drop-in / Stillen anti-sway bars
Eclipse AudioVideoNavigation 2454 / side-blinker mod

Re: Cracked windshield

By the sound of the damage, reparing is most likely not an option. Depending on your deductible, I would definitely consider making a claim. Some insurance cariers have additional clauses for windshield replacement (sometimes eliminating the deductible). Good luck!

Re: Cracked windshield

Och...I feel your pain...I had to replace my windshield at about 6 months for the same reason.
Total damage was approx $465.00

Re: Cracked windshield

I found a guy in Northridge that is doing it for $345 plus tax. Not OEM, but is OEM really necessary for a windshield? Besides if anything goes wrong, that is what small claims court is for.
