As I was pulling into my complex after an AWESOME canyon run meet today, I noticed that the guy a couple of doors down with the evo was out there wrenchin on it. So I pulled up and asked him what he was puttin in......to make a long story short, the dude claims 600 at the crank and 400 at the wheels. To which my reply was, "yea, ive got a 800hp pinto on hoosier wrinkle walls sittin in my garage". He said "REALLY!!" ...and I said "yea, bought it along side a 600hp evo" and then I took off. So now this dude will probably want to race at some point in time, so I need to start beefing up my 5at pending a blower. I need to have the valve body rebuilt, get some aggressive software that wont go back to "granny", and get a better tourque converter along with a tranny cooler. Does anyone know of a shop in OC that would be good for all this??

My suggestion to out run an Evo is rebuild engine, get PE TT and then some NOs to kill the boost lag. ur all good!

Come on Ed, seriously.....Im already going to have to rebuild the tranny...rebuilding the engine too would be way too expensive....you have a good take on it though.....what do you think of the guys 600hp claim?? From what little that I saw, I dont buy it.

well i personally would do that if i really want to take him and have my car in 1 pc when i am done with him.....i go w/ reliability. I plan to keep my car a long long long time....

Thats why.....i ain't going FI but i am going all motor...(LATER)

you can take him out by running with him on a 100 degree + day and a RB26deTT in your car. Even if he is not pushing 600, i do see alot of evo running high 11's and low 12's with couple bolt on mods. Good luck...

is he losing almost 33% from crank to wheel? if so wow.. I didn't know the Evo have that much drivetrain lost. What on the Evo?

id call BS on his claim. 600hp? unless he gives you a full sheet of the mods, plus specs, dont believe what crap he says.

XS and Sparco have 450 and 460 hp cars and those run 11s and low 12s all day. SRT Motorsports has a 2.2 stroker EVO that runs 10s at the track and 11s on the street. but those cars are full-built.

find out what he has, then mod accordingly. but the way things stand, FI and NOS are the only ones you can rely on to run away from his car - stock or not =)

I dont know what all he has on it....I was just lookin from my car, and his was up on jack stands....the only thing that I could see was the top of his plenum, which was annodized purple. What kind of plenum would that be??

a ricer plenum perhaps. nobody has their plenums that color.

or it could just be the valve cover, depending on the angle of the light our vavle covers are a dark cherry red. then from another angle it does have a different hue/color

Yea, it was definately the valve cover that I saw then.....like I said, the front end of his car was up in the air, and I was sitting in mine, so I didnt really get a look, besides, my head was in the game...

I call BS for sure Big Al's Evo has about 469hp and its one of the fastest evo's in the country. I think Macky would agree on that. Big Al's Evo is not a toy.

and as for a 400+ evo, its owner wont brag about it. he'll just let you take him on and lose. no sense bragging if you can blow people out of the water by surprise =)
