Drag Racing - Famoso Bakersfield
Okay - there was some talk at last drag day in Fontana and a little chatter in that thread about going to Famoso, a track that we should see decent ETs at...
I've never been to Famoso, but the altitude is only 700 ft above sea level and from what I've heard its surrounded by lots of trees (good air)... they run at night from 7:00pm to midnight so temps should be favorable.
This is probably the only track anywhere near So Cal to feasibly get in the 13s (for an NA G) - much better overall conditions than Fontana.
I'm targeting Friday May 28th (they only run a few different Friday nights, no weekends)... Plan is - Leave mid-day get up there in the afternoon, check into hotel - hang out/grab a bite to eat then head to track... crash at hotel after racing and head home Sat.
There are several hotels relatively close... they range from $60-$80 - I'm not sure were I'm staying yet... depends on if others go and where they want to stay...
Track is $20 to race, $15 to watch (basically the same as Fontana)
This track is a combo of Irwindale and Fontana - meaning any car that passes tech can race - it's not sanctioned or comp qualifying or anything, but you dont have to be street legal (thats the part like Irwindale).
I called to inquire about how many cars... this coming Friday is the first of the season and they expect 350-400 cars (similar to Fontana)... but the 28th (when we would go) is a holiday weekend and there is no Summit Series the next day (usually there is) - so they expect a lot less cars (good for us!)

Idk if it would be a good idea or not but I live only 45 minutes from there if anyone would want to crash at the house rather than spend money on a hotel. I have three empty rooms and a couch...
