Whats the best way to sell my used car.....

I'm honestly a bit confused. I have searched CL ads, and its almost all dealers who are asking way more than even KBB retail. Yet no one responds to my ad.

Then I check autotrader.com and there are four other similiar cars. All four have better options than mine, lower milleage, and yet are asking what I am asking or more(FWIW, I'm asking a couple hundred less than kbb private party excellent condition).

So what gives? Its a import compact that is in great shape with under 30K miles and gets great gas milleage. I have no idea why those other sellers are listing at more than $1500-2000 under their cars private party retail, and also no idea why they are not seling. For one of those cars, the guy was listed at nearly 4K less than the car would sell for on a lot(not MSRP, but what the car would actually sell for at a dealer). This was for a car with only 7,000 miles.

So basically, I'm trying to see if there is a better selling option out there. I need to sell the car and I thought the $11.3K I'm asking is a good price.

I've had my car on CL as well as Cars.com and I've been getting awhole bunch of flakers. Like come test drive and don't want it, and it's not like there's a problem with the car. I just listed it on eBayMotors. Going good so far.

Yeah, I saw the same car I'm trying to sell on ebay with slightly more miles than mine and it seemed to be going good for them. Maybe thats what I'll take a shot at.

Cars.com is amazing.. honestly.. when I had my old car. (1998 Lexus ES300 Salvaged) Had it up there for just a week. Got AT LEAST 2 calls everyday. Even if most of them weren't legit. Hate how some people don't read even though I put SALVAGED TITLE right up there, but I had it sold within the first week that I had the ad up.

Are you just selling your car or you looking to trade it in for another?

Just selling it. I have a 2003 G35 and a 2009 Yaris. I had been using the Yaris to commute to work and for long drives in order to keep the miles down on the G35 and for gas purposes.

However, in November, I'm moving downtown, walking/subway distance from my work and no longer need a commuter car. It's not breaking me or anything....its around $280/mo. But I just don't need the car anymore, and parking two cars will cost extra.

I was particularly baffled at the disparity from dealer prices on the 2009 Yaris vs. private resale, where the difference on equivalent milleage and options was around $3500, which just seems ridiculous.

The cars.com suggestion seems quite good. I checked it out and my price is much lower than the listings there and more in line with what I expected to get our of the car.

Cars.com will always have higher prices. Not sure if I would ever really buy from there. I use it to check out cars, but then I'll go on Craigslist to actually buy a car. It's a nice site though. Definitely check it out. Don't worry about having to pay more for more pictures. I picked the basic one and was set.

Love how it's all organized and so easy to find cars and all. Prefer that site over any other.
