Recommendation for Painting Brake Calipers: Makito @ Shine Auto Project
I picked up used a set of Rotora BBKs recently and decided to paint them in a different color. Should anyone is interested in getting their brake calipers properly painted, here is my thread about the project
Practically almost brand new with less than 1000 miles
The caliper completely disassembled
Prepped for new paint using 600 grit sandpaper and ScotchBrite around the crevices
The custom high sparkle gold paint that we are going to use for the base coat
To give it a unique look, we headed over to Instyle Graphics in Torrance to get some new vinyl decals made in "JDM Chrome"
We used the leftover BASF clearcoat from car's complete paint job to give it a deep a glossy shine
After 3 coats of gold base, decals, and then 2 coats of clear, here are the results under flourescent lighting:
In the sunlight:
If you disassemble and prep your own calipers and provide a base coat paint, Makito charges $40+ to paint calipers and below are the contacts information should anyone be interested in a similar project
