SoCal Track Day @ Auto Club Speedway Dec 4th

1/4 Mile Drag Racing

Auto Club Speedway is holding an event on December 4th. Inviting all SoCal G and Z owners to come and watch and/or race.

Just want to see if any G's in Socal would like to join for a day of fun in the sun (hopefully).

Original date of November 20th will most likely be canceled due to inclement weather.

Come out and support and keep the performance scene alive!

Gates open at 6:00 a.m.

Race your own car for only $20

Watch your friends race for only $10

I'm down for either day... a lot of the old crew isnt around anymore - hopefully we can get a new group of speed freaks!

Vlad, bring the 370... Bill, you gotta go bro, your car should do pretty good (based on Bakersfield runs)... Mark? Alan (in da del sol )?...

*if it comes together quick enough (enough people) - we should consider BBQ catered - did that a few years back, it was kinda cool (had quite a few ppl though)...

I'd like to go but I'm a total noob when it comes to racing... Never raced my car! Is there any special equipment you have to have, like a helmet or something? Oh, and uh, how do you launch a 5AT? Hahaha

Also, is it safe to run on 20s with a mild stretch? I know, I know, they'll slow me down big time, but it's all I have at the moment.

everyone has a first time - now would be a good time to do it... as for launch and pointers, we can help you out at the track - once you have the basics its just a matter of getting a few runs under your belt and you will progressively get better... the good thing about being your first time is you're almost guaranteed to get better ET each run that day.

Ask Mark (hottdawgman) - his last outing was his first - he did progressively better throughout the day, very successful (we just gave him basic pointers).

There are groups - so we will have plenty of time to hang out and discuss stuff between runs while waiting for our group. Speaking of groups, its important that we all meet together at the main entrance ahead of time so we are in the same group and pit together.

As for equipment, you wont need anything other than registration and proof of insurance... helmet is not needed unless you are sub 14.00 (which is real hard in a NA G at this track)... I'll have one with me just in case (even though the best I've ever run there was 14.002 ) so I wont even need it.

as for which day, I'm open to either... I'm inclined to think we should target Nov 20th first - that way if its ends up raining we can fall back on Dec 4th.

I sent txt to Vlad, Bill, Mark and Alan (klubbheads, buttkiss, hotdogmann and blueslate) - Bill and Mark responded, I think they're interested...

I guess everyone needs to post what day they prefer and go with majority vote. If there is no majority choice, lets do the plan of 20th and if forecast is sketchy we'll switch to 4th...

I've only seen one GTR run there (I think it ran high 11s)... It would be cool to see Andy's car run!
