possible valve adj ??

whats going on guys need ur help here. Im having this horrible ticking noise coming from my car and white smoke coming from the exhaust when i gas it.. im assuming its in need of a valve adjustment. i went to a local shop in whittier Mikes Z shop and they told me i needed thicker oil. i knew that wasnt the proper solution because it was just going to masking the noise. So what place should i take my car where they know what they are talking about.
Thanks in advance

I would try M1 0w-40 or GC 0w-30..

they are both thicker than your average...

I was actually really hoping that it was just oil because I had them change it to 20-50 but still had the ticking sound.. any other suggestions would really appreciate it

P.s. the motor only has 86k miles on it

is your car 05/06 6MT?

if so.. you should read the oil consumption TSB.

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin.
Try the thicker oil. I don't think you'll find places that would recommend a valve adjustment.
I've never heard of doing a valve adjustment on any of the newer cars with variable valve timing and all that.

Later,

Ray

Yeah that definitely isn't the proper solution. If you are closer to San Fernando Valley, head to Specialty Z in Chatsworth. If you are closer to Orange County, go to Corner 3 Garage in Lake Forest.
I second racer x...I used to get valve adjustments on my Integra, but never on my G in the last 90,000 miles.
