My 65 Mustang has black plates too but I don't think these newer ones will have the same paint scheme as those. They will be glossy and reflective to adhere to modern requirements.

Just got a letter from DMV last month that i'll be getting my plates in a few weeks. They are coming in, i know a few challenger and audi guys who got there plates already.
