Arrow Clear Coat Peeling off Hood and Roof - Pricing/Recommendations for IE area shops?

My '04 Twilight Blue G35 Sedan is losing it's clear coat. Not in the normal way you see cars start to look oxidized; This looks like a snake shedding it's skin! One day I noticed some bubbles in the clear and before you know it, they cracked, and started peeling. It's like the clear separated from the paint. You could almost just peel it all off.

Anyway, any recommendations on 1) What I should have done (Roof and Hood vs whole car, technique for repair, etc) and 2) Where I should take it to be done in the I.E. area?

Thanks all.

I just had my car at Steve's Collision Restoration in Upland, California. He does fantastic work, but is pretty busy. Had my hood repainted there, had a bunch of chips, got them all filled, new coat of paint and new clear. I can get a pic for you later today, it looks flawless.

--edit-- a couple pictures. Very large.

I got a quote from a local body shop and about fainted... They called it "delamination" and mentioned defects in the application of the paint/clear that can lead to this. Just to be clear for others, this isn't the typical paint looks old or oxidized, feels rough, has white specs all over; this is like you peeling off the clear coat by itself or like I said before, a snake skin.

I was hoping it would be as simple as peeling off the remaining clear and re-shooting it. But the first place I hit said it needs to be repainted. They also mentioned the high cost of the rubber gutter molds on the roof line... they were $450 alone!

PM inbound to Ben for more info...

Well, I haven't been on the site in quite some time and find a thread with the same exact problem as me. For me though I know exactly why it is happening. I got another car for my commute (GTI) to work and have left my poor G sitting in the driveway for about a year now. Registration is past due because I needed to get a smog (issue there if you know me), so I couldn't drive it. It's just been collecting dust and drying the clear coat out. No waxing to keep it fresh. It's been sitting so long, one of the rear tires has lost air.
Any ways, I guess I'll be looking for a paint shop as well. Good luck to all.

Later,

Ray

If you find somewhere that does a good job at a far price, let me know - I'm not that far way from you. I'm getting an estimate later this week from a place in the IE that painted by buddy's truck for less that the last body shop quoted me for hood & roof.

Out of curiosity, what color is your G?
