Lightbulb So Cal G Club....SCGOA revisited?

Southern CA G Owner's Association

SCGOA is THE original G owner's club, which was created by G35Lin back in 2003. But it never got off the ground because folks were not ready to join a club yet.

So Ed and I poured our efforts into rebuilding Team Transport so that we could bring those hardcore G owner's that were interested in a "club" together and go show/race. But Transport was never intended to be a "G" only team. So we tried to keep those two seperated, at the expense of growing SCGOA.

Now it seems that G clubs are popping up all over the place and SCGOA is an endagered species.

So.... I was thinking that we might want to revisit the "officialness" of SCGOA. We've got so many folks hitting the Chino Hills meets, South Coast car washes, and the old Irvine Lunch Breaks, let's formalize the group?!

I'm sure Ed will be thrilled to see his baby finally take off. We're already meeting, we've already got "leaders" who create events, and we've got potential members! I'd love to see a few more cars running the SCGOA logo.

and

If more of these stickers start showing up on cars, the dealerships will start taking us seriously. Plus, we can look out for each other on the road.

What's the difference between G35driver & SCGOA
G35Driver is our home...just like the rest of the clubs out there. But we need an identity for events and activities that will not reflect upon Kyle/G35driver, as well as give us a local real-world face.

I am sure many will still just post in the SoCal forum, which is fine. I expect the group forum to contain all the "official" activities & event, as well as SCGOA announcements and benefits (i.e. sponsorships or vendor deals/opportunities)

What does it cost?
In the beginning, G35driver didn't cost anything. If you wanted a decal, you paid for it (or knew someone with a bunch in their trunk!) You were just part of something that was gonna get big! SCGOA should run the same way.

Who's in charge and why?
We should have some folks in charge to represent the group publicly (donations, insurance for large events, site coordination), organization and calendaring events.

Sounds great, when do we start?
Ha, we started 2 years ago!!!

I guess we'll relaunch when a moderator creates the SCGOA group forum. We'll start by getting some leadership in place, by committee....

* Events (Steve, Ed..??) <-- we'll need folks by county/area (SD, LA, OC, Riverside, SGV, West Side, etc...)
* Vendor Relations (Ted..???)
* Group Forum Moderators

SO!!! Who's in???

Cheers, Ted

lol i was cleaning my car the other day and looked into my passenger door cubby hole thingie... Low and behold i had a SCGOA sticker sitting in there from one of the first big meets back in 2003. Since the first few meets i've been away from G35driver.com only coming back every once in a while to lurk around and see what everyone's been doing with thier G's (I always seem to stop by here after a big G meet had passed ) . If you decide to take another swing at creating a club let me know i'll be interested. I Met a bunch of cool people back then and it would be nice to catch up with all of you guys again.

Hope to see all of you guys in chino hills...

Just a few observation for you people who wants to start this club.
1. CHANGE THE STUPID NAME OF THE CLUB - it sounds like an AARP ballroom dance meet in a cheap dance hall
2. If I wanted to be charge fees I might as well join TT. "Fee's", like the name has to go.

You guys have to rethink this thing. If you will do the same thing like you did before this club will remain a dream for Ed. Just my .02 cents.......

Uh, never said anything about charging fees bud. I said that it should remain free... just like G35Driver was in the beginning.

If you want a decal, you will need to pay for it.... until Ed, I or someone else can come up with a company that will produce them for free. Some of us feel good about what we are involved in, so we don't mind taking a loss once in a while. But not all the time.

As far as the name (revisit of the Team Transport issue), not everyone with love the name. It would be crazy to expect that. If enough people want to change the name, and you can actually get everyone to agree... go for it. Not sure Ed has the energy to care. i was just going with the SCGOA cuz we already had the name and logo.

I try not to let one constructive quote get me down. But, then again, I'm not looking to referee either.

So, SoCal can just run our meets and activities without being a formal group just using "G35driver" affiliation, or we can become something else like the other geographies. Not really a big concern for me.

I guess I'll just sit back and jump in when someone gets something running. Go for it Glenn!

Cheers, Ted

Maturity is the key to success people! The name is fine if it changes cool but if your not gonna help and be motivated then dont bother. The name is profesional and works and everything has be created. Why should we start all over from the begining.

Im in guys let me know what happens
