Gas Mileage...

Seems like there might be something wrong with my mileage, I've talked to a few people and they are saying they can get up to 300miles with a full tank, now i'll be lucky if i can pull out 230miles.. please post here what you guys get to the tank. and if its more then what I can get tell me if your commute is mostly highway or street.. thanks.

I get around 400 on the highway and about 320-350 combined highway/city. I get bad mileage like 230-260 if I drive aggressive alot.

230 would be highway robbery... that equates to @12.5mpg...

there can be 2 things wrong with your car:

1. fuel tank doesnt fill all the way
can you fill up your gas tank all the way, or does it only go up half-way, if so, u need a new gas tank (i got mines replaced on my old G once)

2. your sending units are out of whack, says your low on fuel but youre really not
when i used to fill up all the way, my fuel gauge read only half, so they changed the sending units on my old car, twice, and it worked fine afterwards...

when you usually pump gas do you fill it up all the way, or just do like $20 or so??
if so, next tim youre at the pump, fill'er up!

behm holler kohn...

Z, but its basically the same. I get about 260-280 mpg. That's like 85% city with SHORT SHORT trips up a gigantic hill to my school that only 1.2 miles away. Basically, very bad mileage conditions... You heavy on the gas? I shift at 3000-3500rpm.

many things factor in to your mileage

I have a '05 G35C AT

depending on condistions, and my foot I could do as bad as 230 on a tank
but 350 - 400 is more common, given my mix of driving.

One very interesting thing I have found about the car, is that common wisdom doesn't hold true. That is to say, common wisdom says, don't rev high, don't push the gas hard, etc.

Now obviously if you are always revving it or flooring it your mileage will suck.
BUT !!! without a doubt, accellerating to speed quickly and then letting off improves mileage greatly.

i.e. If I am at a light and it turns green, I zip right up to speed, and then ease up. Rather than slowly accellerating to speed. It does a lot better there

also it is not about how many miles per tank, it is MPG, if when you fill up you get 15 gallons in the car, and the next time you fill you get say 14 gallons in, the question is how many miles did you go on 14 gallons.

If you do short around town trips your mileage will always suck, it eats gas like a mad man while warming up, and start and stop driving around town is nasty too.

I get about the same mileage on my 05 AT coupe driving on the I15 sometimes in stop & go traffic here in San Diego.

i have NEVER seen below 300 on a tank.....I don't drive it hard though.. but 230 just doesnt sound right?? please don't tell me you're pumping like 16-17 gallons to get that 230 miles.... i would seriously take it to Infiniti if that was the case

I have a 20 mile commute to work, where I get about a 4 mile stretch of straight cruising freeway at most. For those of you who know San Diego freeways, it's 2 miles on the 125, 2 miles on the 52, then a big a$$ hill, about another 2 mile coast down the hill, and then another 2 mile flat stretch to the 15 north for about 4 miles to Pomerado rd, which is a nice 2 lane bottle neck for about another 5 miles.

I average about 305-310 on my AT, and thats when the light first comes on. I usually drive about another 10-15 miles after that and put in about 17.5. Been calculating about 18mpg per tank.

Every since I put on my Z tube, my first full tank (being able to control the over doing the throttle) was 325 with the light on, and 19.5 mpg, and that being my best so far ever with this car. Next tank i drove the crap out of it, lots of WOT runs up hills and such. Was able to pull 18.5

Lots of good points here. Driving hard all the time will obviously lower MPG. However, you brought up a good point, one that MT drivers tax on all the time. In the city, I always speed up PASSED the speed I want to go and let it coast for a while. That the only way I can pull 17mpg with mostly city driving and super short trips, most of them in the early morning too. That is the correct way to calculate MPG too. The Z's have a MPG display but I always check by hand. I use the amount of gallons that I just put in (fill it to full) and divide by the amount of miles I drove before filling up. I think this is a pretty accurate method.

Guys, get your fuel sensors replaced. I had to get both mine replaced. Take it back to the dealership and tell them whats going on. If they tell you its the way you drive, give them the look and tell them u want it replaced NOW. Demand they take a look at it.

i get about 330-370miles on mixed driving and that's counting in about 3 hours worth of traffic jam on the 5 freeway almost everyday....i usually get around 21-22mpg for this kind of driving....

if i can stretch my car's leg a bit more, like driving down to San Diego, then i get very close to 400 and a little over....averaging around 24mpg....

but then again, i don't really drive slow either...
