Hey Kyosho and to those of you who applied to usc. Did you guys get midyr grade requests? I have learned that mid yr requests are not a good sign in most circumstances. I hope i dont get one.

if you recieved a mid yr request, this means you are a borderline applicant.

Anyways, usc applicants, out of curiosity, what are your stats?
Im applying as a transfer and after meeting with the asst. director of admissions, i am confident my chances are pretty good. Here are my stats btw:

3.3 Honors Biology- UNLV (less than stellar first semester of college )
Delta Chi Frat
Tennis Club
Working full time

HS gpa: 4.6 w, 3.9x uw
SAT: 1270 ( )

My GPA this semester will be strong this semester and will neutralize my previous semester's abysmal and disappointing performance.

And Im sure if you got into UCLA, you will get into USC as well. They have very similar admissions standards.

hey Omar, im a freshman applicant and i got the midyear request. the application itself included one and i never sent it in, so i assumed that they mailed the request to remind me. maybe you're right about the borderline applicant thing, but all of my friends got them too. i dont mind much

my high school stats are:
3.8 w, 4.3 uw (IB program - i hate that bull@#$)
SAT1: 1420
SAT2 (writing: 770, math 2c: 740, us hist: 740)
various clubs and extracurriculars and 2 year captain/mvp of tennis team

HEY KYOSHO! Are you playing Brea tomorrow? I play varsity doubles at Brea and we're scheduled to play you guys tomorrow. I'll try to remember to drive my Z tomorrow. You'll probably see it.

Yea, I got the mid year thing for USC too. My friend was up at USC for a scholarship thing and told me that the mid year report requests were totally random. A bunch of people got it, and others didn't.

I have a 4.3 weighted, 3.8 un-weighted. SAT I : 1430, SAT II : writing - 640, iic - 720, chem - 750. various executive positions in clubs, captain of tennis team / MVP previously.

Whoa, WTH, you guys have like the same stats...anyways

there is no way the midyr's are random. that would be counter-productive and pointless.

They are sent out for a reason. Hey guys, nice SATs. Im sure you guys will get in. That would be sweet if all 3 of us were to go to usc.

btw, out of curiosity, are you japanese kyosho?

im half korean/half pakistani (crazy mix huh?)

thanks for the info Omar. i used to surf collegeconfidential, but after reading what those psycho parents wrote i was terrified of my own prospects for college (i.e. "oh, my son has a 1500, 3 800s, and a 3.9 gpa. im worried that hes not going to make it into UCI ). crazy people. and no, i am taiwanese not japanese

yea there are alot of boogus people on collegeconfidential. "OMG, i missed two questions on the verbal section. Are my chances for UCLA gone?!
" And their SATs scores are still well above 1500! I see posts like that everyday and i get so frustrated and discouraged.

I dont know though, for some reason I am still an avid surfer of the site. its a guilty pleasure...

Anyways, kyosho keep me updated on your admissions status man. Good luck

I hope you future Bruins don't like football. If so, it's going to be a long four years against the mighty Trojans.
