Yup ... checked the forecast this morning and it's improved from 50% down to 30%. That's a good thing! From my experience (oh ... I ever mention weather watching was part of the fun w. tracking? ) 50% will almost always rain, while 30% will almost always never rain. Take that for what it's worth.

Officially, the pentalty is $50 between 5-14 days prior the event date. A whopping 50% pentalty if under the 5-day mark. However, in talking to Aaron, he's only charging $30 (for penalty) up to tomorrow. Either he's kind to everyone else, or it pays to know the organizer.

I'll be monitoring the weather forecast very closely all day. I'm still in if it stays at 30%.

On a brighter note ...

I did good convincing the SV folks to start the G35/350Z class. They're looking to get that going. Yeepie!

Cool!

It looks like <30% is the criteria. ...if that's the case count me in. Whoo hoooo!

I'm betting we'll need shades and sun block for the Sunny So Cal weather.

PS be prepared for your car to be covered in a layer of bug goo by the time you drive to the track. Its that time of season.... I've recently been commuting to the boeing rocket test facility in Taft (next to the track) and my beautiful G is completely covered with bug guts.

Oh yeah, there are Pigs all over the grape vine too.
Piggy would be very happy to show you his red lights. Keep it no more than 10 mph over the posted limit to avoid elevated risk.

Definitely save your speed for the track, lads. There is not a combination of mods yet that allow a car to run faster than...............Radio!

Got the new radiator in, and the cats replaced. Put on the Rays Gram Lights with the Toyo RA-1 rubber (275/35 all around........BIG FEET). Will do the headers swap out/replacement between Buttonwillow and Cal Speedway dates. (Shall be trying out the Alphawerks racing headers on a sponsorship basis). Hopefully it will not rain and we can run hard.

Anybody want to meet and caravan up? I can probably depart LA downtown around 7 or 7:30pm if anybody wants to hook up for the drive.

Eeeeesh! Ed keeps up the ante ... 275 all around now? What did you do with the set of Nismo LMGTs? What are the width and offsets again (LMGTs)?

I'll be interested in a caravan as well. I was thinking of leaving early enough to be there by 7-7:30am at the latest. Allows me some time to prep the car.

I'm good for a caravan.

Ed,
If possible, try to get pre/post dynos of the new headers. ...would be very curious to see the results.

Fellas, I'll be staying at the Motel 6 in BW the night before. Anyone else going to do the same?

Ed, can't wait to get a ride in your car! 275's all around... you must be pulling 1+ lateral G's now huh?

Avo:
I am in for CalSpeedway. There is just no way that my addiction will pass up the reverb blast of the supercharger off the wall as you go down the banked straight and then dive into the Roval. Where else can you get flat out in sixth gear my lads? She is pulling 150mph at the end of the straight when survival instinct suggests lifting just a bit as you set up for the turn. That is mainlining adrenaline....TEN TIMES a session.....FIVE sessions. That is right, FIFTY blasts in a single day of awesome gut tightening good stuff.

Clint:
The Nismo wheels were 8.5inch track in front and 9.5inch track in back. 35mm offsets. (They clear the stoptechs with room to spare) The gramlights are 35mm offsets as well.

Dklau:
I am staying at the Super 8 Motel just down the block. Got a deal for $32.88 so it sounded good. You can bet there will be a bunch of motorheads parked there on Thursday night. Don't know if she will pull a full g or not, but it is close to being that either under or over. The car is dropped an inch plus all around, and the race tires drop her another half inch (25.3" total OD). The sways are stiffened and then I dial in on the EDFC a damping force at about level 4 to 6. Add the front adjustable upper control arms with 3.5 degrees negative camber and it bites like a beast up front. Not sure what impact adding 30mm of front tread width on the tires will do, but it should help a touch with braking and cornering....might make for more effort on turn in though. I will have to go a bit carefully at first to get the feel before getting frisky and starting to get her on her toes and dancing.

Hydrazine:
I have a curiousity that warrants dropping the bucks on a dyno. The problem is that the variabilities in ambient temperature and humidity etc are probably going to account for more change in hp and torque readings than headers are. One can easily get variation in outcomes on the same dyno and same tune of 10-15hp or more (that is a small percentage when you are talking rwhp of 350+-). A header gain is not likely to be more than 7hp, and one header over another is not likely to be more than 3 or 4hp. But there are other attributes too, such as performance on the track with superior heat management (jet hot coatings and equivalents), relative air flows at higher outputs and such "real world" elements that do not appear on the dyno rollers.
I will be leaving downtown LA around 7 to 7:30. Give me a PM and we can swap cell phone numbers and figure out where to connect. Avo can join too as we did last time.

Ed,
Missunderstood you with the departure time. I didn't notice the 'PM', which would signify you leaving the night before on Thursady. I won't be leaving till the same morning. So I'll see you guys up at the track bright and early.

It's ashame the offsets of those LMGTs are too aggressive for the sedans, or I'd be very tempted to swipe them from you by making an offer (assuming they're up for sale). My car needs a bigger set of feet that it deserves badly. But I'm too cheap to grant her the wish.

Avo,
I'm hesistant to play in the wets only because the Hoosiers have no business in the wets. The treaded Toyo RA1 owners have grins all over their faces on this one. If it does get pretty wet out there, I may go out w. my streets for some fun laps. Either way ... I'm there! Let's see who eats dirt first!

The weatherbug program now says that the rain forecast is down to "slight chance" of rain on Friday. Let's hope they are correct.
