i don't know wat you consider "having fun" but if you wanna go for a morning drive... try seal beach down to dana point taking PCH south. but not too close from where you are tho... hope this helps....

thanks for the replys guys, but i think i'll pass on the dyno day. i don't want to offend anyone, but i'm not a power-hungry type of person, i'm more into handling and pushing the car through turns. but i'll check out the dyno day thread.

that's exactly what i mean, morning drives, getting away from all the traffic and other annoying drivers. i need to get a map of something and just find some twisty roads.

Like all have suggested, try going to dyno day. Not all of dyno day is about horspwer. Sometimes, just tuning the car is the order of the day to make for more fun spirited runs through the canyons.

If youre just looking for roads, etc, I think the website is Pashnit.com.
(don't mind me, my car is stock, I've only dyno'd once, and I prolly won't be able to make it to dyno day either)

Watch out for some future threads reagrding canyon runs. We usually meet up in Temecula then drive up to Idlywild or Julian. Depending on where you are at it might be a drive for you just to get to Temecula. But beleive me the tradeoff is worth it nothing like pushing the limit of your nerves overtaking slower cars and zipping around twisties.

if you like to swing your cars ***... making turns you can also try Malibu canyon.... there is a very minor one if you would like to consider laguna canyon.... located 133 south from 405.... hope this helps....

thanks a lot for all the suggestions, i might have to search a little more of all the places mentioned above.

about dyno day; what do you guys do there? (other than measuring hp and torque)

like GP1, my car is completely stock, what can i get out of a dyno day?
it seems that there will be a lot of people going, are there going to be a long wait for others that are not on the dyno?

also, GP1; if your car is stock what can they do to tune it? did you get yours tuned? and what differences did it make?

BWW1980...

Hit me up when you're going on one of those canyon runs! Although I'm not that new to Southern CA...I'm still looking for good places for "spirited driving" too!

Enjoy the ride! ^-^

Hey BW1980. I didnt have mine tuned because at the time, it ran much better hp/torque numbers than I ever thought it would. But the dyno is able to tell you if you're running lean or rich much better than any dealer tune up could ever give you. Some of these other guys can give you mucg more techinical insight.
The best part for me was that I knew how the car was performing.

Funny though, I have no real plans to do any mods, but if you do, it would be a good way to get a base line so that you know what your mod $$ are doing for you.

Come out and meet some of these guys. Theyre all great guys and a wealth of knowledge!

You have to be careful about driving Mulholland in Malibu (or any roads nearby). I've heard of "Can't Handle Policework" cracking down near there for the canyon runs.

Like other have said, it’s a good way to meet other G enthusiast... people withal similar interest as you. Also, by meeting locals you might find some decent areas for your "spirited drives" although they are very hard to come by in the OC/LA area (traffic and cops).

If you are looking into doing future mods, it's definitely a benefit to go to dyno day - others can tell you what have worked for them and you can see tried and true testing. This site is a wealth of info but sometimes much is subjective. I doubt you will get any tuning done on dyno day, based on forum response it will be packed with dyno testing. If you do plan to "tune"/mod in the future, it might be worth it to get a base line dyno while stock to know your results. I wish I had done that before I started.

I originally mentioned dyno day as a thought for you to meet other G owners and build from there. I've met some great people at local events. DaveO just helped me today install my plenum spacer (and a couple of other tweaks) - I met him at the first event I ever attended late last year. BTW, if you want a wide-open road with virtually no traffic or cops... There are plenty of 'em by DaveO - finally had the opportunity to get my car to 120 today!!! Whoo Hooo!!! (ran out of road though, so couldn’t push for more).

Anyway, hope to see you at Chuch's
