How to Create Group / Club

How come SoCal doesn't have their own G35 group? I'm not talking about a car club like Team Transport, but more like a regional group like G-Squad in the east. How do you go about creating a group and getting a forum here at G35Driver?

I know we have more than enough members interested for this. Again, I must state that this is NOT for a car club competing at shows and stuff.

Do the members of other clubs have to pay dues or anything? Would we need someone to take car of all the administrative stuff? I think we kind of already have a socal club but it's very informal. Just random group meets and stuff. I would totally be interested in joining a club if we had one.

If you want to join a team, there's about a gazillion of them in SoCal alone. I want something like a formal club like the G-Squad. It'd be nice to have something formal instead of just a bunch of guys meeting up because we can visually see that we belong to something and look out for one another. It'd just be nice is all.

What's not to get? OK, we are all G35 owners right? And we talk to each other here on G35Driver and meet up in person. Well, instead of the SoCal guys just meeting up informally, we would assign ourselves a group name (much like G-Squad of the east) and that way, besides the meets we can associate ourselves with other G35 owners and be there for each other. It reaches more people than just the meets cause you can see someone and know he's in your group without ever meeting him and know that sense of comraderie is there. Kind of like a "secret society". Of course all this helps if you have an assigned group name and maybe some decals, license plate frames or anything to help spot each other.

You see, car clubs/teams/crews are different because the main drive behind all of them is competition.

If you need proof we should have a group/forum, look under the GROUPS & CLUBS tab and it lists forums for a couple of different regions including NorCal, but where's SoCal? Tsk tsk.

I now understand it better, thanks for explaining. I have a question, why seperate from the socal section which has about 300 members and create a folder for a certain amount of members? I like the fact that evey meet I attend I always meet new faces. If I understand this corectly new members would have view two sections for socal meets?

Just trying to understand this.

I guess having the separate folder isn't critical, as I wasn't aware that you SoCal'ers are already using the SoCal section in the Regional forums. But if you notice under the Clubs/Groups forums, it is a lot more organized with available usage of calendars, events, gallery, members only, etc.

The main emphasis is having something to recognize one another other than just being a SoCal'er and owning a G35. Driving down the street how would I know that you were a member of G35Driver and how would you know that I was? I mean this is all voluntary, not everyone in SoCal will want to belong to a group and that's up to them. But we will at least have it for those who do. Does anyone else feel the same way I do?

Maybe we should ask some other members about how they started their clubs. Finiti35 and Neffster seem to be pretty involved in Florida club. There's a membership fee for their club versus no membership fee for G-Squad I think. The Florida club seems really organized with a huge roster and they get Tshirts. At this point, I think if one or a few of us could volunteer to take care of the adminstrative and planning duties, we could easily have a club. If anything, I just want a friggin' T-shirt.

Here are their websites:
Florida - http://www.floridag35club.com/
G-Squad - http://nygoc.com/
