Update on the name:

I decided not to use So Cal G's because it really doesn't work. Without the region it just sounds silly. So Cal G's minus the So Cal is just G's. At least with the Club or Group accompaning it, it can still be G-Club or G-Group.

I'm getting the feeling it's gonna either be So Cal G-Club or So Cal G-Group since we aren't getting replies on the name. We need more input or I'm gonna end up putting up a name poll sooner than I expected.

Also, those familiar with Southern California G Owners Association (SCGOA), what was the distaste with the name?

As for the decals & plate frames, give me time to look into it. I'm sure we could go with both. But as far as the group goes, I'm insistant that members be recognizable to other members. Anyone else agree?

Hey Randy! Hows everything?
I thinkTransport is different than what is being orgainized here. From what I gather this will be a general group of G owners

Transport is a bit more formal and has 3 member stages:
Stage 1: spectator
Stage 2: Race
Stage 3: Show
* If people wanted they can join Transport as a spectator and consider that the general group. Check the Transport website forum for member details.

I've been to a few G35driver meets and would be interested in the general group. I don't see a problem with SCGOA. The decal design is already done. Eddie may still have stickers. People who want it on thier license plate frame can go to the mall.

SCGOA ran into the same problems you are having here. Those that "joined" SCGOA liked the name and had no problem with it.

Then there is the contingent that doesn't like the name, and suggests others that they deem to be the best.

Some of the complaints we heard (cleaned up/and or refined for posting) were:
1) boring
2) too "mature"
3) doesn't reflect the site's demographic
4) mine is better

Your biggest hurdle is going to be picking a name. that's it.

My suggestion, look through G-squads, florida, Bay area and such and see what they went thru and what/why they opted not choose certain names. When you have a short list, say 3-5, create a poll and post it out.

50% of the people repsonding will never join and will only give you grief. On the other hand, you might start something big. Just be prepared for heartache and headaches.

Good luck..I am sure Eddie will "hand over" SCGOA if you want to run with that name too. You've got a few of us that will have to change stickers though

Cheers, ted
