In glendale, they get paid one of the highest rates in Cali (maybe country) at about $5700-$5800 a month (with a college degree, any degree, even art history degree).

That translates to 68,400 to 69,600 a year. Same as fire fighters here (but I think they break the 6,000 mark in Glendale and can make high 70K low 80K....)

Maybe uneducated (some), but always rollin...god I hate my 9 to 5 (really 7:30 to 5:30). Someone kill me for working at a Japanese company where it's rude to leave before the other...needless to say I'm always the one to get the ball rolling "on leaving" every day. I'm not about to play the waiting game. Man, when they say good bye at the end of the day, it is translated to "I am sorry for leaving before you". My same company in Japan, they work 8am to 9pm!!!!! Crazy *****!!!

Sorry got side tracked, what was this thread about again? Oh well who cares all I know is that 5 minutes just passed by painlessly. Now about 8 more hours to go.

Sounds like the "sign-off" cop was being a d!ck!!! I would do as someone else suggested, go another day and hope for another cop. Otherwise, see the judge and tell him the "fix it" has been taken care of but you are unable to get it signed off. If the car is at court, they might dismiss it there.

Did the "window tint" cop cite you? If not I would suggest talking to judge. To often people put themselves at the mercy of officers... I've never been reluctant to talk to a judge. There have been many times when I had valid justifications... I don't even bother with the cops - just talk to the judge. Judges supercede cops. And for those of you thinking "judge will always side with cop"... Not true - as long as you have a valid case.

Jimmy your wrong about Glendale PD officers being th ehighest paid. Beverly Hills PD is the highest paid. They get anywhere from 85K to 95K. And same with the fire department.

I swear to god this is how much they get paid. And they dont just take any **** off the street. The ones who become part of the Police department are in the highest 3% of the class. And there are never any rookies on the force. So you ever wonder why the Beverly hills PD are the biggest @ssholes?

The last time I went to get a front plate signed off, they gave me grief just because I backed the car into the parking spot, rather than park head first. But I knew that there's no law that says you have to park head first in that lot. So we just ended up staring at each other. They were upset because they had to get off their butts and go outside to inspect the car, which is what they should be doing in the first place.

So they'll harass citizens for anything.

And just in case anyone is wondering why I backed in, it was because I didn't know the inspection spots were on the right, immediately upon entering the lot. It was my first time at this station. And I didn't feel safe trying to back out onto a busy street, so I just backed into the spot.

And this wasn't the only time I was harassed for doing nothing wrong. See the related links at the bottom of the page for my run in with them on the freeway.

My friend was LAPD and he pulled down $100,000 to $125,000 a year easy. Of course he loves his job and doesn't think twice about working double shifts or every weekend and he gets all that easy night money for Laker games and SC football.

CHP SUCKS . com

NEVER GET YOUR TICKET SIGNED OFF BY THE CHP ... THEY MAKE MONEY FROM THE TIX THEY WRITE, RIGHT ... IF YOU GIVE THEM A CHANCE, THEY WILL GIVE YOU A NEW ONE FOR ANY NEW EQUIPMENT VIOLATON THEY FIND ... **** THEY EAT THEIR OWN TOO YOU KNOW ... THE ONLY GOOD THING IS THEY ARE ABOUT THE ONLY AGENCY THAT STILL SIGNS OFF FOR FREE .... BUT, THAT STILL DOES NOT KEEP THEM FROM SUCKING.

BY LAW, ANY PEACE OFFICER CAN SING OFF A TICKET ANYTIME/ANYWHERE ... THE BEST WAY TO GET A TICKET SIGNED OFF FOR FREE IS TO FIND AN OFFICER (NOT CHP) AT A 7-11(OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT) AND OFFER TO BUY HIS/HER COFFEE(THE OFCR WILL MOST LIKELY NOT LET YOU BUY IT). THEN ASK THEM TO SIGN OFF YOUR TICKET. JUST BE VERY COOL ABOUT IT.

ALWAYS HAVE THE VIOLATION FIXED BEFORE YOU HIT UP THE COP, UNLESS HE IS YOUR FRIEND THEN ANYTHING GOES........

Anything aftermarket from the driver's shoulder forward is illegal.

Here's another thing.. let's say that someone comes along and takes off one of your side mirrors (car swipe, baseball bat, etc..) the cops can now ticket you for your tint on the rear windows. You must have two side mirrors to have rear tint.

Also, a little known loop whole is that the DMV can sign off on some of these tickets (license plate related), as they are acting as officers of the court. I got a ticket for not having the MONTH tag on the license plate, as one was not sent to me (funny thing, our new tags/new car didn't get 'em either) Anyway, I had already had my appt to get the month tag replaced and got a ticket at the Brea mall in the parking structure. (enter derogatory trollling cop - shooting fish in a barrel expletive here)

When I got to the DMV I was very nice to the counter lady, commiserated/joked on the conditions of her work and idiots on my side of the counter, suggested she go slower so that I was her last customer before break etc... She signed off and stamped my ticket for me, without going out to look at the car. Sent that in with my payment and was done. Didn't have to pay for a CHP or Sheriff Certificate either.

Will need to look into this one... remember they probably won't do it for tint...but that front license plate thing could be enough catalyst. Just tell them it was stolen and order a new one. Not sure what the cost of the sign-off cert is vs. the plate. But it may save you the trip to the CHP office.

Cheers, Ted

The sign off is usually $15-$25 if it is the court (CHP). I believe some Police Departments do it for free, just ask the CHP or Court and they will tell you where it is done for free.

Requesting new plates is $15 the last time I did it (6 years ago). Rates may have gone up since Arnold took office. It might be 20 now.
