Yep, the xenarc folds into the dash and takes up the top half of the double din -- I will still have my cubby hole free!

I purposely bought the slowest cpu for my shuttle, it cools itself pretty well, and I will do my best to watch the temperatures of it. If necessary, I will look into ducting the A/C into my trunk or some additional fans. The system runs very cool now as is. We will see as it's running. The trunk is cooler in general than the seating area.

athlon 64 3000+ - the slowest CPU? man, you are SPOILED! i see, you are using the single-din unit - digital wheelz enclosure, i presume... awesome.

as far as A/C duct goes, i STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST IT - condensation will most certainly become an issue and will KILL your PC. trust me on that one - i'm watercooling now, and have done extensive research into alternative cooling of CPU, video, chipset, and other stuff. if heat becomes an issue, i would recommend underclocking, as well as modding the shuttle case to better cooling. ping me if you need more info.

can't wait to see photos! maybe even see it in person at a next meet?

hey igor,

I was concerned about the condensation issue. I think there will be enough room in the trunk so that the shuttle gets enough airflow, I am also keeping it far away from the subwoofer. I'll underclock if the stock speed gets too hot, and right now, the athlon 64 300+ IS the slowest socket 939 /dual channel memory 64 bit athlon around. No the dialogue system doesn't need nearly that much cpu, but there's nothing wrong with some "headroom."

The Xenarc screen is actually a new unit that fits inside a single-DIN, it only came out a month ago:
