Los Angeles Municipal Code 41.70.2

I was not aware of this until recently. . .

In LA, if you are caught doing, suspected of or in presence of street racing activities, your car title can be transfered to the city, and by the discretion of the city your car may be impounded and sold/crushed!!!!

A little harsh? I understand why they feel a need to create greater consequences based on the idiots who race and cause major accidents but; I personally, am having a hard time with this law considering my perception of civil rights. . .

Not anymore. There is a new statewide standard for emissions testing that makes it a lot more expensive now. I just had my old car tested a few days ago and it was $60, but I have seen it as high as $90.

I can't believe how much damn power the government continues to get. This is exactly why this country was started. We just keep giving our rights away. I understand laws created not to infringe on others rights, but as long as my car passes emissions, and I'm not driving in a way as to endanger anyone else, police messing with me because my car is "modified" seems like a major infringement of my rights! UGH!

Yup. They should ONLY worry about the results, not the technology! If the crap coming outa the exhaust is OK, who CARES what's under the hood??? It drives me nuts that a 1985 el crapola engine blowing gasoline fumes downwind like a big dog, but stock and original as the day it was built will pass smog in soCal, but put a CAI without a C.A.R.B. cert on your 2005 Infiniti and fail - you evil doers!! Arrrgggggg!!!
