I think Jags are WAAAAAAY overrated. I did some reading up on the XJ8 just out of curiosity and compared it to the cars offered by BMW and Mercedes in the same price range and the Jag just doesn't cut it. Even though it comes with Brembos (which was surprising) I think it's a total rip off. Does your relative really have their heart set on the Jag? Cause personally, Jaguar ranks pretty low on my list of makes.

Tell your family member to do their homework on this car. This car has a lot of major issues and almost no resale value. Ford has since taken over the company it got better but not a whole lot. Reliablity, oil leaks and expensive repairs goes hand in hand with Jags. That was then I don't know about now. Research, research research is your best bet. Goodluck.

I live in New England so weather is always an issue with me which is why I trust www.canadiandriver.com (my guess is that no one knows snow better than Canadians). Seeing how you live in SC, i doubt its the same for your relative but check it out anyways.

I love their reviews and they do a great job breaking things down. The link i gave you is for a 2004, but i doubt there'll be a HUGE difference between an 04 and an 05.

Honestly, if they want a nice size luxuay car tell them to get an M35/M45. I test drove an M35x the other day while waiting for an oil change and I had to keep telling myself "i just bought the G, I just bought the G, I just bought the G....".

Good luck!

Knowing that Ford now owns it is enough for me.

I Thinkthere Will Be A Remake Of This Line Late Next Year. Get The Fresh Design Then, Otherwise They Will Be Outdated Very Soon!

Owning a Jag is great, if you ask for a different model loaner car every time you bring your car in to get something fixed and eventually you can drive all of them!

Seriously, they are awesome when they work but there have always been some valid reliability questions around them.
