AC smells funny

Hey guys...

alright so i got my car a few months ago and ive turned my ac on maybe 5-6 times...i dont use the ac much but here in l.a. it gets really hot and its almost unbearable sometimes so i have to use the ac...anyways everytime i turn on my ac the car starts to smell bad...do i need to break in the ac or something...i feel stupid just writing that...i dont know whats up w it...hoping to avoid a trip to the dealer...id use the ac more but the smell sucks...alright well thanks guys

You bought the car new? I was going to say if the car is used you need a new AC Filter. But if the car is new, the filter and everything else with the AC should be new as well.

Take it to the dealer!

if it smells liek pee, make sur eoyu turn off the compressor before you shut off the engine. Then next time you use it, the smell should be gone.

You need to get into the habit of turning off the A/C a few minutes before you turn off the car. The moisture from the a/c gets trapped in the vents and that gives off the bad smell. My wife does this all the time. Here is an easy fix. Buy a can of aerosol air freshener, turn on the air only no a/c and spray it down the vents from under the hood. This will help mask the smell.
