Ucla. Bruin Bash- Common!
#32
I remember a couple years ago Bad Religion played the bruin bash thingy.
Anyway... because of the UCLA bashing by USC people... At least UCLA people can walk around at night and not end up in a "Crime Alert" email by the campus police.
As for the UCI trauma center... at least UCLA's trauma center is good enough for a gay Las Vegas magician (still not sure if that's a good thing though.)

1) Good one (you fruitcake)
2) Again, great comeback (you fruitcake)
3) I went to High School with Steve Smith. I had 2 classes with him (cooking and econ). He's a good football player, but the dude is a straight up *****. Stop kissing his anus you groupie.
P.S. Also went to school with J. Farm on UCLAs b-ball team, but I chose not to be a groupie...I guess USC is great at teaching their students to kiss a$$
P.P.S. I'm only kidding and I hope the mods dont ban me or close this thread or blow up my G...this is just a little friendly UCLA vs USC trash-talk...

One guy got his degree in International strategic defense systems.
And the other got a degree in advanced studies in Asian Language.
What do this two have in common? They are both mommy and daddy sponsored. Still living at home with their parents.
"USC owns UCLA. Remember, you get what you pay for..."
This statement says to me that you probably have a great deal of money….. Or your parents do. See that is the core value system that separates the UCLA and other UC schools from USC, the private school. Does paying more for education really mean that you get a better education? Maybe, maybe not. What I have found is that the students at UC and Cal systems value the fact that they are going to school. They work just as hard, maybe even harder. Private school students tend to think they are better than most because they can afford it. It’s all different taste in education, if you went to a certain school just because of their football team, I really feel sorry for you. (Unless you play football, then that’s a whole different story.
What I am trying to say is that the quality of education is more important than how much money you’re going to make. Just living and growing up in SoCal, I have seen many USC and UCLA grads that aren’t doing anything with their lives, its sad really.
As far a bashing goes, all the bashing (semi vulgar) has been coming from USC guys, while the UCLA people have been very collective and calm (for the most part). If the Mod is reading this, please lock this thread, I just thought that I could find some fellow G35 members on campus.
So enjoy the 4 years at whatever university you go to, then when it’s over….
GROW UP

This year: UCLA - 25th, USC - 30th
You get what you pay for.

If you analyzed US NEWS rankings, you would know UCLA has slowly declined in the rankings in the past 15 years or so. They used to be like #17 or something. On the other hand, USC has consistently climbed the rankings the past 10 years; at least 5 or 6 spots (dont know exact #). The fact is, USC's academics and overall reputation according to US NEWS is rising while UCLA is declining. You can expect USC to surpass UCLA in the rankings in the next 5 years. USC is vigorously pursuing improvement in their academics.
We have a multitude of top 10 disciplines-Business, Engineering, Cinema, Communications, Accounting. Not to mention a #1 football team
In regards to the private vs. public debate, I know many UCers who adamantly protest the lack of attention, bureaucracy feel, and the quality of education. Private universities, having more $ and resources, can provide an overall better education experience. The only school that may be exceptional is Cal.
USC > UCLA

As for USC having more $ and resources than UCLA... any difference between the two is negligible. Citing my knowledge of UCLA computer science research (I have little knowledge of USC computer science research): UCLA was one of the original nodes of ARPAnet, UCLA is the headquarters of the Center for Embedded Network Sensing (which also includes Cal, USC, UC Riverside, CalTech, etc), and (as legend goes) the first message on an "internet" was sent from UCLA to Stanford by Professor Emeritus Leonard Klinerock.
Also, UCLA has probably the best Electrical Engineering Department (widely known in the field). It (and the school of engineering) recieved a generous donation from Henry Samueli (a UCLA alumn), founder of Broadcom, maker of wireless technologies (802.11, bluetooth, etc). While their name is not well know outside of the field, their products are used in products by Motorola, DirectTV, Verizon, etc.
Both USC and UCLA have donors that donate millons of dollars. I'm pretty sure the difference in amount between the two are almost nil. The only school in the Southern California area that possibly gets more donations is CalTech.
And for the record, I am a USC Computer Science graduate student. I got my undergrad degree from UCLA. I worked with a professor at UCLA who got her PhD from USC and I'm taking a class from a professor at USC who got his PhD from UCLA... all that really matters is the quality of the education and (for graduate students and faculty) the areas of research - where the real money is for a university. For graduate students, interschool rivalries are meaningless (but loyalties usually stay with the school where the undergraduate degree was earned).
