2700' above sea level, high temps, zero humidity, can costs you nearly 1 sec from the get go.

Then add in the slight upward slope of the track towards the end.

Then factor in the desert dust and sand from the moto-x track that parallels the 1/4 mile run as it is blown in with a gentle 5 to 15mph 95 degree cross or headwind. Even when the motorcycles aren't running, the wind coats your car with fine sediment, inside and out.

By then end of your run, you're dying to roll down the windows just to breathe! And that's after the sun's been down for 2 hours.

That's all part of the LACR charm. unless you've got FI, you'll be happy with 14.8's!

If you don't like running in the high 14's, here are some other things to do in plamdale:

10. Volunteer

9. Watch for strange things in the sky

8. Make a martini on the San Andreas Fault

7. Patronize the local elementary school's car wash

6. Challenge a little black bird to a street race

5. Wish that LACR was a flat as the 14 fwy

4. Drop in and apply for a job at the Skunk Works

3. Wave at your neighbor's commuting home

2. Go treasure hunting in the desert

And the number one thing to do in Palmdale when you aren't happy with your 14.8's at LACR......
. . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . .
