The life of the "PIG" this week alone in Southern California

And these are only the stories that made in on the television.

January 31, Chino CA., 10pm - San Bernardino County Sheriff Deputy involved in felony evading gunfire with passenager.

February 1, Los Angeles CA., 2am - LAPD officer requests backup after suspect flashed gang signs. Vehicle stopped at the 110 fwy. While awaiting backup, a second vehicle pulled up and fired several rounds into the police vehicle.

February 1 - While on a routine traffic stop, Sheriff's Deputy struck by pedestrian in a vehicle.

February 2, Commerce CA., 2am - During a pursuit which ended on the South 5 fwy at the Slauson Ave offramp, CHP found themselves in a gunfight with the suspect.

February 2, Santa Monica CA., 5am - Police officer requests surviellance by unmarked police vehicle on 2 individuals known from previous crime incidents. Suspects fired and hit undercover officer in the hand. Area of crime scene on lockdown until suspects caught.

There are tons more of police involved incidents. These are just the ones that caught my eye when watching the morning news this morning. I don't know guys/girls. I'm not backing up officers because I'm a part of law enforcement but like we have to look at both sides of the story and understand why they did what they did. It's a dangerous world out there. For example...how many police officers do you think are on this board? 5-10? Now how many members are on this forum? I got around 5,880 total members. Can you imagine the work we'd have to do if this was a place of living. All I'm saying is don't jump to conclusions when it's in an officer involved shooting.

Monday Jan 30 - 5 police officers brutaly beat: kicking and punching one man while he is on the ground - on the news on video

Tuesday Jan 31 - 1 police officer pours 3 rounds into war hero complying with his commands

Too bad we don't have video of all of the police escapades, because this crap happens every night.

I've seen both sides of law enforcement and applaud the men and women that do it for a living. And the issues are with the policy makers and not necessarilly you. But, the street officers are our only means of contact. Writing my local rep is a waste of my time. So that's no good. I'm one of the guys that's a PITA when you pull me over for speeding or following too close, etc. I try to tie up the officer for as long as I can because I have never got off without a ticket. I was busted once for street racing and was kissing butt but it was pretty boneheaded of me to do that considering where I was. I was considering the profession out of high school but was talked out of it by a state trooper friend of the family. Another deterent for me was a good friend's brother was a motorcycle cop in Dallas and got run over and killed while writing a damn speeding ticket. Local government relies on revenue generated from ticket writing. Over the holidays LE said at a news conference they would not only have extra traffic enforcement but also no longer have the 9 mph gimme. They would cite 4mph. 4 freaking mph over the speed limit.

These incidents are part of doing your job as an officer. This is why you guys do get our thanks and respect. You chose this proffesion knowing what you were getting in to. I could never want to be involved in the examples you gave. However, it has nothing to do with officers behaving inappropriately or commiting crime yourselves. That is the part that sickens me the most. Just like the preists who molest kids and then go talk about God and religion. To betray our trust is what hurts the most. They are some of worst bottom dwellers on earth. (I am talking only about 'bad' officers. I am not generalizing about all officers) Officers are supposed to be people that we can trust and look up too. I personally have had nearly all proffesional interactions with officers. But many people havent, and it shows here on the boards with peoples attitudes towards law enforcment.

It takes time to rebuild that trust. Just ask the people of S. Central in 1992 or Watts in 196?. I hope we dont have any unrest regarding this incident.

In my life, I try to go out of my way to be courteous sometimes, and people appreciate that. People in power need to do the same. Next time, pull over a kid an compliment him on his ride!! Anyway I am rambling...
