Too low? Bags are for Groceries? Get a Cup Kit!
Selling my cup kit by stance solutions for $850. <100 miles put on them and aired up maybe 25 times. Stop avoiding dips and using wood to get a jack under your car!
This kit will cost you $1450 after shipping and PP fees brand new. I also put about $200 in it fixing some things since this is a euro spec kit.
Read everything before PMing or buying! This will be very detailed so I don't get a million messages.
What the fark is a cup kit and why in the shat do I needz it?
A cup kit is a type of air suspension. It works in conjunction with coilovers and sits on top of the spring, but below the top mount of the coil. Think of it as an air piston, much like the piston in your engine. Instead of air and fuel mixing, its just air which pushes the piston down (cup). This motion is translated into lift. It has a ring (again, like your engine pistons) that keeps air from escaping. A solenoid can be opened with the switch which lets air escape - this is passive and the weight of the car will force the air out of the opened valve.
How high does it go?
It gives you 2 inches of lift in the front only. It also acts as a 0.8'' solid spacer when air is not applied to the kit. You need to make sure that in order to keep your current ride height your coils must go 0.8'' lower to make up for this added space on top of the spring. Other alternatives: (1) Cut your springs by an inch. (2) Have some springs made by Swift Springs that are shorter in height. (3) Take out all but one of the locking rings on your coils. If you are having issues with getting lower, then your rings are already at the bottom of the threaded portion of the coil and you can take one or two out - depending on your coil - and make up this difference. This is the option I went with. Or (4) you can buy coils that slam you low enough in the first place.
Which coilovers will work?
Any coilover will work, but the inner shaft diameter of the coilover must be 20mm. It must be 20mm because the hole in the center of the cup kit is 21mm and this forms the inner seal (via rubber gaskets) around the coilover and will keep the cups from moving around on the suspension. You will need to call or e-mail your prospective or current manufacturer of your coil to find out this spec - or you can measure it yourself. I used Function Form Type II coilovers and they worked great. The inner shaft was 20mm. I know that the cheap coilovers such as MDU/Godspeed/etc are not 20mm. They are something like 8.5mm - if that doesn't speak for quality. At any rate.. continuing right along... The spring of the coil must also be less than 90mm, since the cup fits over the spring. This is basically a non-issue on any coilover made for the G or Z, but if you are calling anyway to figure out shaft diameter you might as well ask this too.
Why is this the better than air bags?
A cup kit acts as a solid spacer on the top of the coilover when air is not applied. This means your ride characteristics are unaffected. You can track the car, parking lot pimp, do whatever you want and you won't be able to tell. Bag kits are known for having too soft or firm of a ride depending on the psi in the bags. I know air bags have come a long way and this isn't always the case. The failure of cup kits is very, very low. There are no bags to rip, one valve for air out/down compared to eight valves on bags - less chance of leaks. Cup kits are a lot rarer and get a lot of attention. The way they air up and down is slower and smoother than bags (again, some bag kits with correct sized lines and valves are smooth also).
Why are you selling?
I went bags.
How many miles on the kit?
<100 miles an have had air applied maybe 25 times. They aren't even broken in fully.
What all do I get?
Two cups
One compressor which can be hooked up directly to the cups or to a tank (with parts not included).
Some air line, but you will be missing about 4 feet. I would just get new air line so you can run them how you want.
All connectors.
Fuses in line.
Switch.
Analog pressure gauge (doesn't read correctly, would suggest you buy a nice digital one)
Other misc parts.
What is needed to get it working?
Couple feet of 6mm outside diameter (4mm inside) air line.
Wiring for the switch.
Relay.
Probably some shrink wrap and **** for wiring.
Compare it to other cup kit makers?
Top Secret Roberuta: If you can get it it's $6,000+, comes with 4 cups and some other cool **** like wireless controller.
Umbrella: Have to send them your coilovers. Kit costs $3,000+, looks pretty, very popular with the NSX crowd and they have some bad things to say about the company.
Platinum VIP: Kit has been "about to be released" for months now. When I messaged them on their site, on FB and on another forum I found them on they never replied.
Now compare to my price and it's a hell of a deal!!! Quality is top notch on this kit as well. Very heavy, thick metal and good metal rings/seals.
How can this kit be improved?
I've already done some of the little things for you. I rebuilt the compressor. Since out cars are heavier than some others it drew more amps to get the car to full height. It kept blowing the 30A fuse the kit came with, I replaced it with a 50A and no issues (draws about 43A). Hooked up everything around the compressor to make it more compact and give it a cleaner look.
You could add an air tank and pressure switch to help it air up faster.
No warranty. All sales final. If something wasn't answered feel free to ask!

(You won't see the stickers when installed. They can also be peeled off. I'm lazy.)

Forgot to add: one of the filters on the compressor is broken. I accidentally twisted it off in the screw hole of the compressor (filter was plastic and I tightened it too much). I'm sure you can drill it out or get the plastic out of the hole somehow, but just be aware of it.
Here is a picture of it. The other side has the filter.

You can see the other filter on the other side in the original post.
