Well there's a Chinese resturant in the Clearlake area that is Awesome first time I tried it. It's called 888 Bistro and believe me, first time you see their Menu you'll have the hardest time choosing what to eat because everything on their Menu looks so good.
Hmm...let me see...
Maggiano's Italian Restaurant
Mark's American Cuisine
Fogo de Chao (expensive during dinner) - great meat selection, like a buffet but they come to you!
Taste of Texas
Piatto's - ok average
Tokyo One - If you need the Sushi Buffet and everything else Japanese fix
59 diner - Is great! Milkshakes are awesome!
Cheddar's - Awesome comfort food...
Um thats about it I can think of for now...I know i'm missing something though....

Spanish - Mi Luna (They have one in Rice Village and another in the Sugarland Town Center. For a first timer, i would suggest going to the Sunday brunch so you can taste a good selection of tapas).

Casual Italian - Amici. Food has always been great, and service is top-notch. Last time i brought my entire family, not only did they cover dinner for two people (who had to wait 5 minutes longer than they should have) but they gave free dessert and coffee to everyone as well. This was for a party of 20.

Tornado Burger - Tornado Burger (
). It's not fancy, but if you like real burgers, this is a pretty good place.

Somewhat exotic - Feast Houston. They serve a lot of game, and cuts of meat not normally found in your typical US restaurant. My favorite is the crispy pork - reminds me a lot of a dish we had back home that, in itself, reminds me of roasted pig.

French - Au Petit Paris. Dinner only, i haven't been but the reviews from friends have been stellar.

Laid back coffee/wind-down - Thompson+Hanson Cafe.

There's also Himalaya Restaurant on 59S and Harwin, it's nothing fancy and the food takes a while to arrive. But they do taste great and is a nice sampling of good Pakistani/Indian food. Try to order the Biryani if you can ahead of time as it takes a while.
Is it too obvious i'm a foodie?

I am a *big* fan of dim sum, but alas i'm so used to those in the Philippines that those i find in Houston are ... just "okay". Then again, i guess it doesn't help that i can't read or speak Chinese!
Me: "what is that"?
Waiter/ress: One or two?
Eh?
I go for the usual suspects, but would really like to try the other stuff that i have no idea what they are just by looking at 'em.

^^^ Ok, it was just brought to my attention that what i said above may be offensive to some. Please don't take it that way, it was not my intent. My apologies to those that did get offended.
Ahh..dim sum in the Phillipines...mmm....It is good over there..everytime i go back home I try to eat some...But of course Hands down the best is in Hong Kong and let me tell you that was a funny experience trying to order dim sum in Hong Kong! LOL...just like Mike said...I can't speak chinese as well!
