Custom axle-back exhaust finished w/ sound clip

I got in touch with a local fabricator a while back and had him make these for me. I've kinda got them dirty with the recent snow and salt on the road, but figured I'd show them off while they were off the car. They're an exact fit up to where the OEM mufflers sat... even down to the strange v-band style clamp. They slide onto the stock 'mid-pipe' and the lip of the new peice is clamped just like the lip of the OEM piece.

Here's a sound clip:

Also, I'd really like to install a set of 4.083 gears in the rear end ( https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-general-tech-questions/195153-anyone-change-4-083-gear.html ), so I'm considering selling these if anyone is interested. I'd like to keep them and do the gears, but I have a feeling it's going to be expensive for a professional install and i'm already a bit out of sorts from over extending myself this holiday season.

If there is any interest, feel free to PM me.

I think the exhaust sounds spot on with how it should have been from the factory. What exact parts did your exhaust guy use, so it can be duplicated? What was your RPM during the drive by?

I guess that's just everyone approving of the exhaust note....

Sounds good, I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive when I saw the pic of the mufflers, but that works!

the drive by was 2nd gear all the way to 7,500rpm. Then a shift to 3rd as I went by to show there wasn't any 'buzzing' like you sometimes hear on aftermarket exhausts when shifting.

As far as the parts used, the 'flange' was custom fabricated and took a ton of time to get just right. The rest of the pipe is 2.25" and uses a small 2.25" muffler and 2.25" stock like tip.

Sorry for the wait... it took alot longer than planned to get it made just right, then I just kept putting off the sound clip since it was cold out and none of my friends understood why I needed to get a video of my car driving by. Lol.

Unfortunately the exhaust is already off the car. Perhaps the next owner can post some sound clips after the install?

It sounds similar to unbolting the mufflers at idle tho. A deep semi-burble, kind of like the 1st gen coupe.

I really want to buy a set of the 4.083 gears and get them installed.

It looks like it's gonna cost ~$1,000 to buy the parts and pay for labor, so I'm giving up the exhaust to do that. After the holidays I gotta pay off some CC debt and can't really do both.

The exhaust sounds really good, but obviously isn't a major HP modification. I'm hoping the 4.083 gears will be a blast and really make the car more exciting to drive as well as improve my 1/4 times.

Maybe you should be taking orders so that you can pay for your gears!!

Is the exhaust stainless or regular steel?

Haha... after how hard it was to make my guy said he has no interest in producing anymore. He said he'd rather just make the full cat-back exhaust than duplicate that flange to work w/ the OEM flange.

I believe he only works with stainless, so I'm assuming it's stainless. I can check and confirm this though.

I think that the catback option would be pretty popular if you can get it to market at the right price. Looks like it should be a bit lighter than stock as well.

How did the sound compare to stock volume? It sounded pretty good in the clip but personally I think I would like another set of resonators on it to keep the volume around stock levels (just different).

Never hurts to put a product out there; afterall, the quality looks pretty good.
